i also tested regular dvds on the ps3 and it did not upscale the dvds to HD, rather it progressive scanned it to 480p...it looks a bit more define than regular 480i but it has alot of noise on the screen...the same can be said about PS1/2 games, they dont upscale either...and some game will prolly just look downright ugly on HD...this is something Sony can fix with a patch, but they really shot their foot with this one.

oh im on that site, they have a thread about the particular model i have...but its not just that becuz other people have said the same thing about veiwing regular dvds on the ps3.

To reduce picture noise, be sure to calibrate your HDTV with Digital Video Essentials or Avia DVD. You can pick it up for $10 on Amazon, last time I checked. It makes a heck of a difference.

haha, i get that vibe from you...neways ill tell you a little about bluray then...when i first got the PS3 i still had SDTV but i watched The Ballad Ricky Bobby neways, and on then its about as good as a regular dvd, maybe a little bit brighter...but i was testing out movies quality on my new TV yesterday morning and i must say Ricky Bobby looks so much better now...everything is more clear and define and alot brighter...my tv's native resolution is 720p but the bluray player upscaled it to 1080i...which leads me into dot1q's post...

Problem with that is a software upscaler will take a significant toll on the system resources. I can't believe they didn't include it in hardware, espeically considering they added almost every other function to it.

blu-ray adds ALOT of potential for the ps3 imo, just give it time, they'll be filling up those discs and using the ps3 fully in no time

tbh though, most japanese ppl aren't fluent in english, but they get the general idea of wat ur saying in english. when i was looking for a store in japan i just asked a lady working at the cafe, she didn't speak english but pretty much understood.

judging by the trend, each Playstation console has 3 FF games. PS1: FF7-9. PS2: FF10-12(X, X-2, XII. FF11 is an online game). so AT LEAST, there should be 2 more to go if the FF series continues.

and you can play all the FF games that are released on Playstation consoles before

i been playing japanese version games since i was little, such as super robot war, winning 11, various anime games etc etc. thats why i wanted a j version ps3 and not us version. (actually i found out not too long after i posted that you can still play j version games with the us ps3)
