Did College life ruin your health?

The result is that I've gained a little bit of a belly. I'm a skinny person overall but this can't be healthy. I don't think any weight gain like this is healthy.
Hopefully, I will graduate, find a job, and find new meaning and direction in life that will restore some spirit in me. University life is too flexible and it's so easy to get off track.

My timetable is like 11.30am to 5.30pm almost daily and I can't eat a proper lunch. But I don't have the appetite before 11.30am. Therefore I stay cold and tired and hungry for 4hrs or so before I can eat dinner after school.

what year are you in? and what do you study? Yah, I'd say the first 3 years are the toughest. The workload is too much and there are too many new things. But in 4th year, things calm down. For me, its mostly a case of getting sick and tired of it all. I'ts been 5 years already of university and I'm really sick of it.

I'm only in first year, my course is only a 3 year course...and I feel really tired and sick already. Though I love what I study. I'm in visual communication, but they will only stream us to our specialized area in 2nd year...I hope I can get into graphic/advrtising design.
There's only 7 weeks per semester and I'm slow that's why I can't catch up with the rest. I'm failing subjects because of lack of time and I have to retake my failed subjects, which contributes alot to my problem of the lack of time.
Nowadays when I start to do work...I feel like throwing up.
What about you? What are you studying? At least you are about to graduate...but adults always say, stress frim school is nothing compared to the working world.

Yah I totally understand where you're coming from. There was a period in the winter semester of my 2nd year where it was really, really bad. I'd catch cold so easily due to the exhaustion and because I was exhausted, I'd catch cold easily.
It really helps if you can find some friends and support each other. I have to admit that I would never have made it this far if it weren't for my friends. It's not just the studying help but it makes you look forward to going to class and you can study together.
I sometimes want to stay in school but after 5 years, I'm sick and tired of it. I study computer science and I'm in a coop program so some semesters, I work fulltime at companies. It's been an alternation of studying and working for 5 years now. I'm just so sick of it.
You're right about the adults thinking school is much easier than work. I feel that way too. The thought of just working fulltime is quite depressing, especially since I've done it before. If school was more relaxing and just consisted of doing assignments and going to class, I'd totally love it. Problem is, there's the issue of midterms and exams and worrying about your marks and that just totally ruins it for me. So as of right now, I'm looking forward to getting rid of it all.
At least you like your field though, even though its hard. You're a girl, right? I think girls fit that kind of field really well. There are some girls who are in engineering or in my field and I feel so sorry for them. That's not to say girls can't do engineering but most of them are just not interested.

But it gets harder every semester, its just that you get used to the workload and the school work, and the study habits.
The work doesnt get easier, so dont rely on it getting any better, you just better change and get used to it.
HAHAHA, senior year is going to be hella hard for me.....its COMING
But yes, the transition from hs to college is hard, and somewhat depressing for alot of students since the change and stuff, but once you get past it and get more goal oriented. Basically get over yourself since there are alot of other students with the same feelings, you will be ok.
I dont know you but it was hard for me, the first semester since i had most of my gen ed's done, i took chemical engineering classes my first year, so i had to learn fast and change my habits even faster to get the good grades.
Good luck

1. I got FAT!
2. I don't get enough SLEEP!
3. I WORK too much!
4. Can't get into Nursing Program!
5. I don't even know how to get myself to school everyday! I have to wait and see if my parents are home yet or if my sister is FINALLY done with her class for the day. On Fridays, I have to FIGHT for a ride to school! I can't drive. (V.V)!

When I went to China for the summer, I lost so much weight. I was worried about being too skinny. It's cause people bike everywhere in China. You spend much more time outside, walking or biking. People spend less time at home. And I think the vegetables and meat have less fat in them. And I notice chinese people don't pig out and binge on food. They prepare their meals in an organized fashion and eat it and feel satisfied and that's it. And the junk food in China is not as fattening as chips or chocolate.

My sleeping habit is messed up. I sleep 5pm to 2am. Wake up and do some homework cuz that's the only time I won't get distracted by people and things going on around me.

haha, you know what's funny? my hours are the complete opposite of yours. I sleep at like 5AM and wake up at 2PM. As soon as I get up, I usually get working. Once its nighttime, I can't concentrate anymore.

another problem are the school cafeterias. they should seriously start considering getting some asian foods in the cafeteria. i swear, most of that stuff is not healthy. it's all burgers and fries and donuts and really, just slop. There was a time when that's all I ate cause I had to stay at the uni for most of the day. It was disgusting.
Not really, some Asian food can be really bad too. My school has Panda Express and they have a lot of oil in them. I don't think eating out is good for your health. You want something good, home made stuffs are always better.
By the way, I agree with anyone about the time, I went out of the house today at 7:30 and I usually got home by 8:30 pm because after school, I went straight to work.
By the time I got home, I felt mentally ill..seriously, my head aches and my body's tired.

yah asian food can be really oily and unhealthy. But there are restaurants that specialize in cooking asian foods that are healthy. Like there's this chinese place i know that specializes in healthy food. It's all tofu, vegetables, rice, and soup.
I think the university should introduce food in the cafeterias that is healthier. The health of students is important and the university should be more responsible for it. After all, look at all the tuition students pay. The least they could get is some decent, healthy food.

I also do 1 hour of cardio 3x a week and power yoga 2x a week. exercising really helps, especially when you're stressed out.
manage your time well, get as much sleep as you can and try to eat your meals at the right times. i know it's hard, but you get used to it

Are you talking about restaurants? You gotta go out to do that. I don't think they have the services like outside. For me, most of the people working in the university probably works at minimum wage. I think that's why we only see fast food restaurants.

yah im saying the universities should introduce more quality foods. i think they can do it if they really wanted to. at least my university can. my university has loads of money but they jsut spend it all on building new fancy buildings. im sure of that money could have gone into hiring some asian chefs to make some healthier food for everyone.
and yah about the stress thing, is there anyway you could make it easier on yourself? maybe take less courses or get less hours at work?
i did the same thing last semester and it was murder. I took 4 classes and worked parttime. it got to a point where i hated going to work and hated going to class. i managed to get through it though. but this semester, I decided to focus on school.
