i'm a senior in high school right now.
i took calculus BC in mt. sac and i got a C in it.
i KNOW i could have done better but i was fooling around.
when i applied to colleges, i stated that i took calc at mt. sac.
i didnt know that was a bad choice.
should i call them and say that i dropped the class?
it would be a lie...
but would they buy it?
i mean, they can't possibly check up on every student right?
i turned in my college application in the beginning of oct
and the drop date for my calc class was mid oct.
C is a passing grade,
but i want to pursue pharmacy later.
so i need good grades to enter pharmacy school.

thanks smile.gif

Calculus BC? Is that like Calculus I? I don't know about a C, but you can always retake that class in college if you don't like your C right now. That's what I'm doing at the moment.

forever you & i

^ calc BC is like 2nd level calculus.

isnt dropping and receiving a W just as bad? well maybe not just as bad but it is a mark on your record. i think schools will also take in considerationyour over all grades too... not just one C in calculus II... also, pharmacy schools really care about chemistry and other science classes you take... laugh.gif

also.. if you lie and get caught... it may not be worth the trouble... >.<

okay, honestly, it really doesnt matter.

as long as you get into a college and good grades in COLLEGE, you can get into pharm school. pharmacy school doesnt look at your HS grades, and if you get the credit for calc in college (whether by AP or just taking it again), then it's all good.

nono, see. i DID get that grade in COLLEGE.
as i was in high school, i attended mt. sac community college.
i got a C in calc.
and my college wants me to send them my college transcript.
and the C will transfer there.

so yea... >< i don't know.
i'm here to ask if telling them i dropped the class would work

i rather go into college with a clean record, get what i mean?

the dropping date was oct and you're gonna notify them now? Isn't it kind of late? aren't results supposed to be coming out already?

and anyway whatever you state on the application is subject to verification when you mail in your transcripts n stuff. You already told them you took it so they need your high school transcript and college transcript whatever grade you get. If say you dropped the college course you're probably gonna have a 'W' or some letter showing you dropped anyways.

Just take the passing C, that way you'll be two quarters ahead in math when you start college anyways. You don't even have to take the AP exam either..

yea i made the same mistake. there's nothing you can do now but to accept the grade. it's baaad to lie...you will regret it for the rest of your life at some colleges (like mine)

btw, your college gpa wouldn't include cc grades

well the grade doesn't amtter because I heard grades dont transfer over only the credit, so if you take calc in college again you wont get the credit, but you'll get the grade only. That's wha thappen to be I took math180 at mt.sac and then i transfer it over and i didn't get the grade but only the credit so i took it over and i got the grades. :-)

^ exactly... grades do not transfer, but credits do. you have nothing to worry about. it's better that you can get the credit, than not... right? however, if you feel that you didn't understand the material, you should probably take it again as an undergrad.

as long as you do well during your four years of undergraduate study... then you shouldn't have any problems getting into pharmacy school. i mean, because you did attend a community college as a senior in h.s., you're probably required to send in a transcript for whatever courses you took. that C in calc won't seem like such a big deal by the time you're applying to pharmacy school.
