on doing well that year instead of colleges. come summertime when you're
becoming a senior, then start visiting/worrying/etc.

But there were also other things I had to take care of, like making slides for my artwork, making copies of newspaper articles, etc

Actually, some of my friends wrote it in the summer after junior year. This gave them a huge bump since they could rewrite or redo once school started.
Your GPA looks good. A decent SAT and you will be in!

i dont really think u can get ahead with the application process because u have to wait a while for the school to make the online app available. u wouldn't even know the essay prompts yet so u can't even write them ahead. in general, during the oct-nov time, most seniors start applying for colleges,
true about the essay prompts, but you can work on essays ahead of time for things like the Common App, whose essay prompts stay the same year after year.

but if you can start in the summer of junior year, DO IT. trust me. it's better to get it over with then having to do a million apps during the school year when you have homework and stuff.
oh yea and some colleges allow juniors to apply to them. i think emory does it.

be prepared to finish all your SATs by the end of your junior year (it's a pain to worry about it during senior year WHILE applying to schools)...
and then beginning of senior year is usually when pplz start applying for schools. you can look into early admission/decision programs if the schools you want to go have them. =)
