i got this thing in the mail over a month ago stating that they are a nationally known organization that has been in service for many years. it says congrats to me for receiving this honor for performing excellent academically for the year of (05'-06'). They say to recognize and honor the students properly, they offer an entire program of valuable educational services for those who accept their nominations; and only 5% of the nations' high school students receive this honor.

i asked people about it and few have even heard about it. and on top of that i got C's and B's, performing well academically? i dont think so (its senior yr for me, lazyness is getting to me) i do have some ap classes though
you can know more about them at www.whoswho-highschool.com

has anybody else received such a thing??

it's basically a scam for your money.
i think you need to pay them something.

A LOT of kids get that, so it's nothing to boast about, but i guess it's still an accomplisment -- to some degree anyway.

Yes, when I was in highschool, they eventually asked me for my money. It's nothing too great. Even my ex bf got one, who had a GPA less than 2.0

I did but I didn't apply for it since you had to pay money and believe me, a lot more than 5% of HS students get it.

Like most people have already said, they make money off of their merchandise such as the yearbook, plaques, college reporting, etc, but you don't have to pay a penny for receiving the "honor," as long as you fill out the paperwork, your name will still appear on the yearbook. I've sent in paperwork a few years ago without paying anything and now they still keep sending me stuff in the mail to buy their products. IMO I think it's a waste of time unless you want to see your name on the book. I came across their yearbook at my school library and the names are like in a 7 point font with literally thousands of other names.
