The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
was pleasantly surprised at the turn of events after the first fifty or so pages, up till then it was quite boring.

I'm reading this book also. But I'm way past the 50 page mark and I still find the story a bit boring. So...I think I'll give up on this book and go look for something else.

I've recently finished New Moon by Stephanie Meyer, it's not bad but honestly I found the first book (twilight) MUCHMUCH better and more addictive XD
Love me when it makes no sense at all.

Refiner's Fire by Sylvia Bambola.

This book is amazing. Aside from being totally addictive, the characters and what they go through really inspire you as a reader. It made me realize that I was so lucky to have what I have now. Haha. Maybe I'm getting too intense...? laugh.gif

Btw, this is based on the underground Christian church in Romania so... yeah, a big part of the plot is based on religion.

can anyone recommend any inspiring books?
lately, ive watched a lot of jdrama, like good luck, pride, 1 litre of tears and they have all been very inspiring. Can anyone recommend any books that is like a must read and inspires you a lot?
I personally don't like books like catcher in the rye, the notebook, or those classics. but anything more new?

The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho. love this book. its about dreams and goals in life. easy to read, too.
another book i found inspiring is Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom.... great lessons in life.

Currently, i'm reading another paolo coelho book, like a flowing river. its not a story but rather more like his journal and insights.

i just started reading another book. George Orwell's 1984. haven't form an opinion yet. but seems quite interesting. scary world he is painting though.

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, maybe? I found it somewhat inspirational through it's sense of hope and forgiveness of this devastating crime. Or Mysterious Skin by Scott Heim for basically the same reason (mostly hope and beginning to heal from a childhood trauma). Those two books have some awfully depressing subject matter, however. I usually read depressing classics, so I'm probably not much help here though. smile.gif

That's quite a fun book. I think Sophia's movie captured its essence pretty well.

Velocity by Dean Koontz

It's really good so far. There's great plot twist in the beginning that almost no one can predict.
