i watched that movie! before i read the book. I looooooooooved it. gillian anderson! eric stolz! i cried a bucketful. smile.gif i have bleak house (gillian anderson!)...but i haven't watched it yet...it got such great reviews, too...i'm sure i'll love it since the same person who adapted the bbc colin firth pride and prejudice (it's $19.99 on amazon right now!!!!) did this one, too.

actually, there have been a few times i felt the movie or tv version was better than the book. emma by jane austen was probably two hundred pages too long. smile.gif jeremy northam! (and, to me, an almost unrecognizable ewan mcgregor!) and the anne of green gable series (only the first, and the sequel. the third installment was not too good). i thought anne of green gables was an excellent book...just the subsequent books were not as good. and the writer/director did such an excellent job with combining the best aspects of each book in the series to make such an excellent miniseries. highly, highly recommended.
i've never heard of the bleak house movie, but i'll have to check it out, as i loved the BBC P&P miniseries and i think gillian anderson is (surprisingly?) perfect for these period pieces.

ok, anne of green gables is one of my favorite books, still, but the sequels were the worst! it's like a constant recollection of anne and her friends going "remember when..." followed by some anecdote covered in the original book. and the author just didn't know when to stop! i think that series has like eight books or something? i never really watched the miniseries (just bits and pieces on TV), but i've heard good things about it.

currently reading harry potter and the half blood prince. i read one chapter of harry potter and the deathly hallows and decided that re-reading the sixth book would be a wise idea.

the next book will definitely be harry potter and the deathly hallows.

Finished the last book of Harry Potter...

I'm waiting for my "His Dark Materials" trilogy to come through the mail - Can't wait to read that!!! <3

I'm currently re-reading The Old Kingdom Trilogy: Sabriel by Garth Nix.

I highly recommend it for fantasy lovers because it reads like a breath of fresh air.

oooh that books gets really, really good. hope you end up liking it! i almost didn't give it a chance, but ending up adoring it. smile.gif

funny thing about harry potter books (i've read 1-6)...and i may be in the minority here, but soon after finishing my marathon reading (probably nonstop for 1 or 2 days)...i forget most everything i've read. ph34r.gif i remember liking them...but i don't remember much. maybe i need to slow down my reading...i think i need to snap up number 7 as quickly as i can...because i'm afraid all the secrets will come out before i get a chance to read it (i hate it when that happens)!
