i just finished reading "Waiting" by Ha Jin. It was sooooo good. smile.gif I recommend it to everyone that likes to read about old chinese traditions (like arranged marriage.) to romance. I actually learned a lot through this book, like how "lifes are lived in every moment." Stop trying to wait for the 'Perfect' day to start fresh for a new beginning of your life..because you're already living your life. etc...it has a lot of themes actually.

WARNING! there might be some parts where it's umappropriate for younger children. biggrin.gif

I just finished reading Children of the River. Ch 17 made me cry. Like. Seriously xD

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. It starts off a bit boring, but it picks up soon enough.

Great Expectation by Charles Dickens....yay.
"Surely there is something in the unruffled calm of nature that overawes our little anxieties and doubts;
the sight of the deep-blue sky and the clustering stars above seems to impart a quiet to the mind."

i just finished the glass castle by jeannette walls. it's a memoir of a journalist who was raised in complete poverty by amazingly dysfunctional parents. there are couple of books about neglected/abused children that end up getting repeated a lot in this thread, but this one is pretty different because... well, there's no self-pity in this one, and jeannette ends up on good terms with her family.

now i'm starting into the wild by jon krakauer. non-fiction streak. it's been made into a movie.
