I just finished reading the History of Love - Nicole Krauss, it's sad, haunting, and beautifully written. Thumbs up and highly recommended.

The Kite Runner
I'm halfway through it. Amazing book.
Also bought The Tipping Point
My first post in this thread!
The Kite Runner has got to be one of the best books I've read in months. A powerful, unique story told in a simplistic and yet emotional voice without intricate sentences or big words.
I've also read Elie Wiesel's Night before--along with the other 2 stories, Dawn and Accident, that make up The Night Trilogy. Night is the most poweful story among the 3. Dawn is one of the most heart-breaking stories I've ever read, and Accident is just down right depressing.
I'm currently half-way through VS Naipaul's A Free State (3 stories)--loved his writing, and the first story really strikes a cord in me. It's my first VS Naipaul read-- had tried before but never managed to get into his stories. Yet this time the first story really drew me in, although now I'm sort of losing the reading momentum. ...

welcome then! kite runner's great. i don't think i would've picked it up if i hadn't read about it here.
i just finished the time traveler's wife by audrey niffenegger. it sounds like science fiction (i mean, it does have elements of science fiction in it, b/c it's about a guy who travels through time), but mostly it's a love story. it's very sweet and sad.

But I have to say "The Kite Runner"s the most poignant book I've read. Its interesting how the main character's the protagonist and villain at the same time (proves you are your worst enemy). I give it FOUR thumbs up, that's inclucing my toes lolz.
