okay, so today, somebody hacked into my xanga and wrote a public entry talking about my personal life. this person, also wrote similar comments in the past, and i tried so hard to track this person down, but i couldn't find a way.
i have this person's IP address from a xanga stalker site (suhock.net).
i was wondering if there was anyway i could track this person down with more information?
PLEASE, if anyone knows anything, tell me asap. i really don't care what this person says about me, but this person went TOO far with MY personal life today.

Basic answer, no.
You can however enter the IP onto this site http://ws.arin.net/cgi-bin/whois.pl
it will tell you their ISP and approximate location based on the IP registeration data.
How far do you want to take it? Yell at them? or more?
You can file a complaint with their ISP. Lets say its SBC...
Search results for: 68.126.2.xxx
SBC Internet Services SBCIS-SIS80 (NET-68-120-0-0-1)
68.120.0.0 - 68.127.255.255
PPPoX Pool - Rback4 IRVNCA SBC068126002000040122 (NET-68-126-2-0-1)
68.126.2.0 - 68.126.3.255

Then you can complain about them there. I think you can call that digital trespassing... depends on how good you are in talking to them. But most likely they will get a mean letter from their ISP only...

Change all your passwords.

unless they were using a static IP address there is no actual way to track down the person urself, IP's will change from session to session when a user is online. Usualli cookies sent from the ISP to the users computer will be logged and can tell u who that person is (i say usualli, bcaz this is not always the case). This is unless they are good/careful in covering their tracks and use a proxy or purge cookies after each hack attempt. Xanga mods do hav a system in place if ur xanga was hacked, file a compliant via:
http://help.xanga.com/contact/passwordhacked.htm
they will log ur IP and investigate or---> (kick the culprits a...)
hope this was of help
