I wanted to purchase another cellphone. I"m with sprint, and if you know anything about their phones, their mostly low quality and the decent ones that they have are limited or the price is sky high. Knowning that sprint uses CDMA phones.

A few questions:
Now if a get an unlocked phone, would it work?
Any how would I go about it?
Has any sprint user on here done that?
Does the phone still work properly?

Please and thank you biggrin.gif

i know u can get their "blade" for free, the samsung a900?

I think spring or verizon is pretty anal about using non company branded cellphones on their network, so it might be hard to use an unlocked phone.

im pretty sure the possibilities of using an unlocked phone on a cdma network is slim to none. and yeah....the blade is pretty decently priced...only thing is that the memory on it is crazy low.. but other than that it works as a multimedia phone.

You are pretty much stuck buying Sprint phones only. Don't waste your money buying unlocked CDMA phones. It will not work on Sprint.

Heh ya, it's probably better not to stay with sprint and buy a new phone.. but rather go to some other carrier (Sprint got the lowest ranking out of the 4 big companies on customer satisfaction).
I am the minority here.

ok, 1st of all CDMA phones are NEVER unlocked. CDMA phones have to be locked to their network, with that said theyre are people who are able to swap the ESN for CDMA phones so you can use other phones, thats why you can use SK telecom phones with Verizon, but there is no doubt in my mind you can do it for sprint, but you would need to find someone who is willing to do it for you, and the whole process would cost probably way more than its worth.

There new samsungs arent to bad tho. But your better off without sprint IMO.
