well throughout freshmen year, i got straight A`s, but of course colleges don`t really take that year into consideration. so now in sophomore year, i started working really hard to get straight A`s again. i ended up getting a B in spanish due to finals and a B in APEC during 1st semester. so my academic GPA went to a 3.9. now it`s second semester and i got my progress reports. i have a 4.1, and will try very hard to keep up the grades. but i don`t know. i want to get into UCSD or UCLA, but i`m not sure if my grades will be good enough. i know it takes a lot more than your GPA to get into UC`s, but i`m still worried. fjdskla;jf LOL

you can't really rely on UCLA standards.
but I think you have a good chance at both, if you keep up your GPA and also take some AP classes

for UCSD, you'll be fine
for UCLA, just keep up the GPA and do well on your SATs. I know some people that got into UCLA this year with around a 4.1 and okish~ SATs.

Most of them have 600-700 averages on their SATs, but some of them got 800 on Math IIC and either Korean or Chinese. I'm not sure how much that affected their admissions since so many foreign-born applicants seem to do well on those tests now.

Yea, there's always some shocking acceptances/rejections each year. So who knows. And it's not the end of the world if you don't get into your first choice.
