i'm no car genius but when i read on australian forums, japanese cars are always given a bad name and all the aus ppl say their SS commodore will smoke ur average japan import. so how do they compare? on a straight line i'm guessing the muscle car would win but in cornering they would suck right?

It depends on make and model. Obviously any car could be made to go fast or corner like crazy given the amount of money. Stockwise, I do believe the Japanese makes are more concerned with the general overall excellence while muscle cars are more known to be drag monsters. However, there are muscle cars like the new z06 that is a track AND drag monster that puts most cars to shame. It all depends, otherwise you're comparing apples to acorns.
I want to be the one in front of you...just like that guy.

Japanese cars are known for their light weight. how fast a car is isnt just about the HP, its power n weight ratio
just because "PRODUCTION" cars are equipped with a lower hp engine doesnt mean the japanese import sucks. come on you swear a mutimillon dollar company like honda and toyota cant make their cars fast?? the anwer simply lies in...they dont want to.
example. look at all the JGTC, Formula and the LeMans cars. if anyone tells you japanese cars sucks, slap em some knowledge about Takata NSX or Bar Honda F1
its funny when anyone simply claims that 1 type of cars are faster then everything wasnt even/fair to start with. you are comparing 2 types of cars and bragging about how 1 isnt good enough because its not build that way.
If people still want to compare. at least compare 2 cars that have a similar price range or something. you cant compare a stock camero with a stock civic, and you just cant compare cars thats made in 90s and 06 you know? but again when you argue against arrogant people, they'll always find something else to pick on (like imports having a turbo)

muscle cars are just pure power hence the name
whatever floats ur boat.....
but from what i know japanese cars have better handling and muscle cars have pure power but sucky handling
but anyone could mod a car and i agree with HKS457 also
i also think that japanese imports are more directed towards consumer/public use.....maybe thats y they sell so many?

I can beat the mustangs on the corners...but not on a straight away. I rather have a car that goes faster on corner than on a straight. But having both would'nt hurt. smile.gif
