Those are my top three choices right now, so I'm seeking opinions about each of them (pros & cons).
I appreciate any suggestions/comments about them.
Also,
-How strong is each in engineering, especially bioengineering?
-How is each for pre-med?
-Location?
-Security?
-How hard is it to get high grades? (i heard cornell has grade deflation)
-Is it really hard to get to know professors and research at Berkeley?

Cornell, Penn, or Berkeley? which one do you recommend?

i, personally, dont know much about berkeley. i think (somebody clarify this) berkeley has a good engineering program.
i live in the bay area (like a few towns away from berkeley), and have been to berkeley. theres a lot of good places to eat outside berkeley.
i'd prefer berkeley, imo.

i dunno but my sister says that cornell is "the college that everyone goes to because they can't get into any other ivy leagues"... i dont know if this is true or not but she said that usually ppl who apply to cornell are able to get into other ivies..

well, if you look at the acceptance rates for the ivies, cornell has the highest percentage of acceptance which is why everyone says that. buttttttt cornell is still a very very good school.
anyway, i'd go for upenn

Cornell has such a low acceptance rate because of all its different schools. Some of the schools have acceptance rates of 25-30%, but the CAS, has an acceptance rate of only 18-19% (which is on par with UPenn/Berkeley sort of).
for engineering, i'd go to berkeley. isn't it really good there?
cornell has the best engineering for an ivy league so:
berkeley, cornell, upenn.
but, personal preference:
berkeley, upenn, cornell

I can tell you from talking from other people that uPenn is very good on location IF you do not mind being in an urban area. This means that commute is accessible (NYC and Chinatown). Security is...not so great. I've heard that although it's not dangerous as say, JHU, it's definitely somewhere you do not want to be caught wandering alone in the early AMs.
Um, Cornell...I'm really picky when it comes to locations. If the place is chilly and urban I can deal. If it's chilly and rural I'm less inclined...well anyway, I've heard that it's in the middle of nowhere. It is a very good school and I think that rumor about grades being deflated is true.

ahh... urban and surburban.. u guys just reminded me.
for berkeley, its like in the middle between urban and suburban. but the campus is pretty nice.
near oakland, which has a chinatown. and across the bay from san francisco, which has a cool chinatown too.

thanks for all of your responses
is berkeley's area less dangerous than penn's then?
also, to what extent is it true that there's cutthroat competition at berkeley?

my cousin told me he was dying in berkeley and he's a really good student too. unless you study your ass off for 24/7, i wouldn't go there if i were you. howeverrrr.... berkeley is in the top 5 in the u.s. for biology in general. i also don't think berkeley is as dangerous as some people say. sure you may see some homeless people walking around the campus, but i heard they're really friendly.
