hi, i applied to the college i wanted to go
but i recieved a letter saying that i was on the waiting list
can anyone tell me how that works and is there a chance for me to getting in

Well... I think if enough students send their online intent to register (or by mail as some still do) it opens more spots. Then they would accept you.

Basically, if not enough students enroll to fill their class, the college will go to the waitlist and accept students from there.
However, the rate at which waitlist students are accepted varies widely from school to school. A college might put 300 kids on the waitlist and end up accepting 10, or it might accept 100, or none at all. Check your college's past waitlist acceptance rates (some colleges post them) to get a feel for their pattern.
