Final Fantasy XII (Final Fantasy 12) was recently released in Japan on 3/16/06, it's coming to the US 10/3/06. So I guess I'll start a thread for it; is there is one (I scanned the pages, but I might have missed it) please close this topic.

Summary/intro: Final Fantasy XII is set in the world of Ivalice, for years the two kingdoms of Arcadia and Rosaria have been fighting against each other in a bitter struggle. Located in a strategically important corridor between the two powers is the small kingdom of Dalmaska.

Arcadia's invasion of the kingdom prompts its princess Ashe to join forces with the resistance. Vaan is an optimistic and bright young man yielding from the ancient kingdom of Dalmaska, which has fallen under the control of the Arcardian Empire. Due to the unsatisfactory conditions there, he has cut his ties with relatives there, seeking his very own personal freedom.

As an adventurer, he dreams of being able to command an airship someday. Ashe is the sole daughter of the king of Dalmaska and hence the next inline to the throne. Following the invasion of her country, she becomes the leader of the resistance against the Empire. During a wild pursuit, she loses one companion after the other. Despite her desperate situation, she still hasn't lost the pride of a princess. In this situation she meets Vaan, and before long loses her heart to him. Thus their joint adventure begins

I've been playing it for a while, one of the best FF's imo.

Kame, it takes a LONG TIME to localise a game, especially w/that much dialogue involved for text AND vocal.

I'm not looking forward to this at all. I don't know why, but I just didn't care for the demo and I've pretty much lost my interest. But I guess I shouldn't be judging it so soon. I'll have to give it a chance, although I feel I'll be dissappointed . . .

The batle system isn't as basic / simple as it looked in the demo. The gambit system is highly customizable (your allies will try to steal when the enemy hp is at 100%, then cast xx magic, then try to poach [converting the enemy to an item when they're low hp].. etc) Or like, "cast heal when ally is <30%" and stuff like that.

The fighting style is still the same though, you see the enemies instead of random battles like the old days.

ooooh... but a bit too complex for me. I'd rather watch people play it so I can watch all the pretty scenes!! ^^

My sister told me about the story line (she is in japan right now), it's pretty complex but it's just your average teen love story like every story in the final fantasy series. No doubt, the battle system & plot is much more 'complex' or 'mature' than the earlier series. I really can't wait for this to come out, I wish it would come out a bit earlier.
