hmm.. never really check this side of the forum out, but checked it out of boredom tonight.. didnt really know this many ppl went to ucsd.. and im also surprised at how many of you chose or got into sixth.. i myself go to sixth.. 2nd year.. im surprised that they made most of the rooms into triples.. guess i was lucky i didnt have to deal with that.. actually, no im not surprised.. ucsd is getting an influx of students and they are running out of space to put them.. next year i got screwed with a single turned into a double (bunkbed). if you guys want pics of the rooms, bathrooms and whatnot.. i have some:
common room
Bathrooms
Shower
toilet
closet (dont mind the mess)
My side of the room
Roommate's side of the room
I know itll be different with the new triples.. just imagine a bunkbed.. cuz im sure thats what they added.. as far as the size.. what u see is what u get.. my side + my roommates side.. the pictures were basically taken at the midpoint..
As far as CAT goes, boy can i say im so happy i got that over with.. CAT3 the subject was atomic bomb, sounds interesting right? could've been.. if the class werent so dry.. the topics covered in cat are actually quite interesting.. they're very much like philosophy classes.. they make you think.. they open ur eyes to the shades of gray, if that makes any sense.. you pretty much get out of the classes what you put into it.. also, your grades are dependent on ur TA.. so hope u get a nice, chill TA. and despite what people say about peter john, i would have to say his class was probably the most interesting and most attention grabbing.. he's a hard and abstract prof, but at least he makes his classes more interactive.. you actually hold debates and everyone is allowed to voice their opinions.. my other cat classes were straight up lectures where u just absorb info.. so one day i was in his class.. doodling on my paper.. when i look up, he's flicking off the whole class with both fingers and saying "john tesh you guys". then, he proceeded to disconnect his laptop and left in the middle of class. class dismissed. true story.. why did he do this? cause he was pissed that people were talking.. lol yeah it was an experience.. yeah i know doodling kinda negates and may seem to contradict what i said about it being interesting, but it happens you know? that class was def an eye opener and it changed my view on things.
hope this was helpful.. if you got any questions or anything feel free to PM me..
i have peter john! he's really nice but his class is too hard and his lectures are super boring. he got mildly pissed off when people were talking when we were supposed to be paraphrasing or something and he told us he'll cancel class and leave if people push it (i guess that's what happened in your class?) :I oh and i hate how no one will get an A in his class since he grades himself a B ("well there were some students that got A's... i think 2 last year?"

I might go to the orientation, depending on the day and time. plus I live in the L.A. ~ O.C. area so it better be worth it!

anyways for me...this quarters pretty cool cuz i decided to take some of the easier classes and classes that I forgot to take earlier so I can somewhat get done with my GEs instead of taking all my crazy major courses. I'm taking:
MAE9 C++
BILD 10
Phys 2CL
MAE 130a Statics
Gospel Choir
......next quarter's gonna suck

It's definitely cheaper to do it at a CC but I have to take Chemistry 6BL over the summer since I'm not taking it in the spring quarter... Plus everyone tells me it's better to do 6BL by itself because it needs that much time and concentration...
