Giesel is the giant spaceship looking library near Price Center. I don't know where the meetup is, I didn't know that we decided on Geisel.

i have a friend who scored a 1750 on the SATs and still got into Berkeley with average to good grades
it really depends on what you're involved in and how well you do in school
a large part of it is your personal statement...i spent a month+ on those >.<
i don't wanna go into personal details about what i was involved in or w/e, but if you really want to know, send me a pm..i'd be happy to answer

^ Most likely due to extra curricular activities or a bunch of community service. Who knows? ;P
Math 10c is really easy is you are decent at math. It's significantly easier than math 20c, or 20 series in general.
The book looks like this:

According to Amazon, there appears to be a newer edition:

Anyway, if you're ONLY taking Math 10c, you should just borrow the book from Geisel (Science & Engineering Library) and photocopy the problems and solutions that you need, and just read the book. It's more cost efficient, and you won't even have to worry about re-selling the book. However, you also need to actually work in advance - like maybe photocopy what you need a few days in advance. Usually a day or two before quizzes, midterms, and finals, student go nuts over textbooks...
I saved myself almost $40 on a ~$48 textbook for political science by photocopying, since I only needed to read about two chapters (out of eleven) for information to write an essay.

i think he had around 25 hours of service for this year xD (i'm pretty sure his personal statements were decent though
and that's a really good idea
how long does geisel let you borrow books? and do teachers generally tell you what you need to read in each textbook? >.<

It depends. We have books that are on "reserve" and ones for regular check out. In addition, when there are holds placed on books, return dates vary. Books placed on "reserve" at their respected libraries are usually textbooks that professors request to be placed on reserve. Most of the classes you take will have books on reserve, and they are usually 3 hour checkouts. You can always renew the book(s), but make sure to renew them on time, otherwise there will be late fees ($10 per hour!). Reserve books are 3 hour checkouts so that other students may have a chance at borrowing the books. definitely check out http://reserves.ucsd.edu when school starts to see what books are available for your class(es) at the library.
In addition, if a book is not placed on reserve, but is indeed a textbook for the current quarter, you may also check out that book (if the status is available, meaning it is not checked out) as a regular checkout. If you are an undergrad, you may check out the book for 28 days, while Regents Scholars get quarterly checkouts (or something like that). I hope this makes sense. :] In addition, S&E Library now has open reserves, where you may use books for library use only, but you may use them for however long you want. We have a limited range of books available on that shelf, but there are quite a few copies on it so you should check there as well.
As for UC acceptances, I don't know how the acceptance process goes either. An acquaintance of mine got accepted to UCSD and rejected from SDSU. :? My boyfriend got rejected from UCI but was accepted to UCSD. Who knows? haha
