for ERC students:

if i'm taking a foreign language...and i've finished the 4 required quarters
but i decide to take a 5th quarter as an elective....

would that count for my regional specialization if the language is the same area as my region of choice?

for example, if i'm taking (East) Asia for my regional requirement....and I decide to take a 5th quarter of Chinese...would that count?

thanks biggrin.gif

Yea, i'm pretty sure it's going to count as a lower div for the regional specialization i took korean as well for it

As for the cancellation of MMW 4-6...no way....how will they be able to incorporate all that material into just 3 quarters??? ERC's whole motto is about the international world and learning about how it came to be so i wonder if the rumor is true. If it is, sooo unfair ...i just graduated this year!!! At least i somewhat enjoyed the classes (minus the papers)

This is what the VAC says.

"If you use a Chin 20A class to meet language, it cannot be used to satisfy the Regional Specialization requirement, but 20B could."

thank you biggrin.gif ... at least i know i'm not signed up for that class for nothing >.< (didn't expect to take another quarter...*sigh*

on another note:

does anyone have the full set of MMW2 books for Chang for sale?
or...poli133a? (japanese poli sci) --> i'll edit with real title after my class <.< >.> (Japanese Pol:Devlpmnt Perspctv)

i'm probably going to have to buy my chinese book separate cuz the prof said she just decided on it -.-
and someone already offered to sell me int'l 102

BUT if anyone else has int'l 102 books for sale (cheap please!...and preferably no writing/markings) then i also have a friend who may be interested biggrin.gif

thanks smile.gif

azn_chick91: haha no! i just remember reading that you're taking MMW2 so I assumed that you were a 1st year tongue.gif I didn't start taking upper divs until...spring quarter of my 1st year. I really looved Broz's Int'l 102 class though smile.gif Hope you enjoy it!

likey2eat: for MMW, they usually open up more sections 'cause the waitlists are always so long. just be sure to check your email frequently so when they do open up a new section, you can be the first to enroll in it smile.gif..as for calc, i'm not too sure =/

^ i ended up having to take an earlier section time because i didn't want to be put on a waitlist for mmw

has anybody taken game theory (econ 109) and how is it? i've heard mixed things about it.. some say its hard, others say there's a massive curve so it's easy to get an A.... and so on.

hey misz chen, I just looked at your shop and i was interested in one of the posters (DBSK 3), is it possible to do a local pickup? (assuming you live near ucsd). my friend, who is a DBSK fan, has a last-day-in-sd party tomorrow night and if i could pick it up the poster sometime tomorrow during the day that would be great, let me know.. i never bought from a soompi shop before so not sure if i'm supposed to PM you or what... lol

I'm applying to UCSD and I've been researching the 6 colleges. From what I've hear Muir is the most popular. I'm going to be a biology major and I've been wondering which one would best suite me. I honestly despise writing, which college has the the least prereqs for english?

muir and warren...but even then they have a couple papers you have to do
but if it's biology, you may want to consider revelle (where a lot of bio/science majors go)

good luck
