You can look up jobs on the ucsd's port triton website and there will be info on how to apply. That's where I found the library job I'm going to an interview for. In my case, I had to email somebody my resume with a brief letter of introduction.
I don't know about work study since I don't have it, but I think what you do is bring the work study award with you to the job interview, again, not sure. I think for the specific work study jobs, they will have instructions on how to show it.

is a dreadful phrase
but does anyone have experience?
I'm going to start commuting this fall and I'm worried I'll be circling the lots for 30 minutes before I find a space...
I know there's student parking in Gilman, pangea, the lot south of revelle, and north of muir... any other ones?
where do I have the best chance of finding a spot around 7:45am and 9:45 am (my classes start at 8am and 10am)?
My classes are in Peterson, york and center hall so I don't really want to park in warren or god forbid the medical center

Ohh... parking in UCSD sucks. I doubt you'll be able to get any parking at those areas around 7:45 or 9:45.... I usually go like an hour in adv to get parking and most of the time I park in the regents parking lot and take the shuttle in. You can try and get parking if you get there like at 7 or earlier. But I have had to circle around UCSD looking for parking for nearly an hour before.... so the earlier the better.

the weather in sd is crazy, i swear. one day it is bright and sunny..the next it is cloudy and chilly =( weather is generally around 60s-70s during the year i think...fall is the nicest weather i think...it's sunny, but a light sweater is good. during the winter it can get pretty cold..my friend called me a wussy because i would wear like 4 layers...she said "socal kids are spoiled" because she said in norcal that would be considered "nice weather" lol. sorry, i know that doesnt really answer your question...hmm..i guess it just depends on you. i have about equal amounts of everything.

i think they ask you when they interview you if you have work study and some people will ask that you bring proof if you do....

there's also the lot in marshall next to the lowers...i think it's hopkins? that's not TOO far..and i mean, there's always the clockwise/counter clockwise shuttles. like someone mentioned, there's the regents one too...most of my friends dont even like bothering with the crazy parking and parking permit and just park somewhere in the streets and take the nobel or arriba shuttle to school...saves them time finding parking and $500/600.
how much just really depends on you. how often do you want to do your laundry? are you going to use the flip your boxers inside out for another wear method? hahaha factors like that.

For those inquiring about the library job - there are ads in the library somewhere displaying opening spots, but I am not exactly sure where. However, it's the same thing that's posted on port triton. It might be difficult to actually get the job at the library (particularly S&E) since so many people apply to it - my friend applied and so did I, but he didn't get the job while I did and I kind of felt bad lol. I actually don't recommend applying to SSH Library since their expectations are a little more rigorous compared to S&E Library.
As for work study - I didn't get work study, so I don't know how that goes. See if you can print out the award or something - you just need to prove to them that you have work study, that's all. Work study does give you an advantage, as I remember reading that SSH required work study while S&E had work study "preferred". Gook luck! lol maybe we'll work together. ;]

You can make something or buy something in advance and bring it to school. Or you can always try asking some friends who dorm on campus to "swipe you" ;] If I don't want to eat anything on campus, I just wait until I go home or something, since I am usually only at school for a few hours or only 3 days a week will I be at school for 6-8 hours.
