^ I've been in a Verano apartment... i think they're okie... According to my friend each apartment is like 400K or something... But the color of Verano apartment throws me off... its not appealing... but that could be me.

Sorry, this is a really random question, but does anybody know where/how I can watch the Laker games that are aired on KCAL9 on campus? I'm desperate! T__T

I'm in Revelle and I live in Argo. Honestly, it's not that bad. I love living here (more so because of my awesome suitemates) and my RA is really nice. The only minor complaint I have is that even though I'm pretty high up, I can clearly hear people ride by on their skateboards. I don't even mind Revelle's GE requirements and this is coming from a person with a non-science major.

most of the time its on TNT... the games... that's what I remember from last year... and I watched on TNT this year... you can usually find out what channel its on through TV guide or ESPN... just figure out the network and then go to that channel. :]

mehh i think i'd rather live somewhere else, its always so quiet here so kinda boring tongue.gif they're ridiculously strict about some things too, like they dont let you keep your surfboard on the balcony and they dont like you hanging your beach towels on the balcony to dry sleep.gif

Stupid question of the day: Ralph's or Vons? ph34r.gif

I used to go to Ralph's all the time because I lived on-campus and it was closer, but now I prefer Vons because:
- Vons is closer to my apartment than Ralph's
- Ralph's parking lot sucks (hence the facebook group: Whoever designed the RALPH'S parking lot is a dumbass.

I'd go with Vons since i can get there in a few minutes by walking but Ralphs is open 24hrs so thats always nice tongue.gif
i hate the speedbumps at ralphs sleep.gif

^^ depending on what deals are being offer at the store? I love getting great deals for stuff so it really depends on the store... and also a crazy coupon shopper so it depends on which place is going to make me spend less with all the coupon i have... but, I think Vons has a better parking lot for sure! :]

If you want to study Pharmacy, then study Chem. Most of Pharmacy courses are just different chem classes.

I was thinking of either gen bio, chem, or maybe pharm chem as my possible majors. I know bio is an impacted major....how about chem? Would it be better to apply as a chem major? Would that improve my chances of getting in? hm ):

You don't have to major in bio or chem to go to pharm school -- you just need to complete the required courses. I would suggest if you don't know, just say undecided and decide when you get in. I was undecided bio when I came in and I ended up switching my major from Physiology and Neurosciences to Biochemistry and Cell Biology.

I was thinking about that too...but what if I end up wanting to do major in bio, and it's an impacted major so it'd be hard to get into that?...maybe I'm thinking too far ahead, haha ^^;

hey guys. I'm a senior in high school and i wanted to apply to UCSD but it asks me to rank which college i like from 1-6 and i have no clue. can anyone be so kind as to tell me the difference and which one they think is better in terms of living space, academics, ect.? It would help me loads! XD

I have a similar question. I've read up and I have no clue either except that I know Revelle would be my last choice.
I'm applying for Economics/ Japanese Studies if that helps. Any input would be great. Thanks biggrin.gif

I'm just going to say "Muir" should be of your top choices because Econ 1,2,3 can complete 1 series of Muir's GEs, JAPN 10a/b/c or JAPN 20a/b/c can complete another series of Muir's GEs. Muir only requires you to take 4 series, 1 cultural diversity class (usually overlaps though), and 2 writing classes. It's much more flexible in terms of your major. So it's not so bad, especially since you also have to take a math class for an Econ major (complete another series of Muir's GEs). After that, you can focus on your major classes, and not have to worry about too many GE (general education) classes.

Go to http://muir.ucsd.edu for more information. PM me if you have any more questions about Muir.
I'm really thankful that you're alive. The news about you is my reason for living. We should meet at least once while living. No matter what you're doing be healthy and always live happily. For you being born, for meeting you... I'm so thankful.

Guys I've heard A LOT about how bad the Revelle dorms are before I moved in this year, but really, it's just fine!! =D
I am in ERC, but I'm living in Revelle (yeahhh double overflows), but I really like it here!!!
I don't know about Argo and Blake though~XD

Since I have lived in the ERC dorms for a few days, I can compare, and I think I like it here better than ERC~hahah~
I don't know, maybe it depends on what kind of person you are, if you are the type that likes the quietness/relaxing environment at night, Revelle is the better choice~

But I have to say that Plaza food is......lol
But I love POTS!!! =D
I'm glad they have it here~hehehe~

I totally agree that revelle's dorms are one of the best ~ (especially the fleets!) which building are you in!?! biggrin.gif I'm actually a revelle student but i really wanted to be in Argo and Blake. Argo and Blake's rooms are a bit smaller than the fleets. (if you get a fourth floor in the fleets, it's ginormous!) Plaza food isssss bad... but i usually just go to the dining hall in muir (not far away!) biggrin.gif so it's all fixed! biggrin.gif

I have yet seen ERC's dorms! someone must show meee!! biggrin.gif

I dont know if anyone is still interested in the differences on the sixth colleges and my opinion but i know the apps arent due until 11/30 so maybe this will help someone biggrin.gif
I heard the bio major is now impacted soo... good luck c/o 09, for the bio major! ><

First comes Revelle (Where all the NERDS&Bio/chem students go! xD): Like everyone says, bad food; i'd just stock up frozen/fridge food from supermarket or eat at Muir (: yumm. Fleets = good dorms; very spacious even though they are the oldest buildings. I would say the fleets are better than Argo/Blake because it's usually more quiet and more secluded. (good for studying!! but also means less socializing.) However, you can always go to argo and blake (or other colleges!!) and talk to the people there when you want to talk/socialize biggrin.gif (that's what i do!) To me, it really sucks living in argo and blake because when they do want to study and it's noisy, they'd have to go to the library (even if it's late at night;; boooo) Revelle is also very convenient if you have classes at York! (:
Their GE's are... intimidating but if you work hard, do your part, and not slack off TOO much, you'll get there! (:

Then Muir (where all the semi nerds, people who want to double major, and lazy-ish people go!): I dont agree on the double major part for my roommate's a muir student and if she wants to double major, she'd have to stay here for extra years. but yeah i love the laid back GE's. I have no idea why i didnt put this as my first choice. The food's good, the dorms are... sorta creepy. They're okay sized but their windows dont have nets. so if you love bugs, choose this place, other than that... bugs might occasionally fly in. scary! They have a lot, if not most, of clubs within muir so there are many ways to get involved. However, because there are a lot of involveness in muir itself, they are not as involved in the school entirely.

Third comes Marshall (i honestly dont know what happens here either... but i have a few friends here and their whole suite parties a LOT;;): it seems that a lot of marshall people are in frats/sororities along with sixth and warren people. *shrug* their dining is good and it's the only dining hall that opens until 1am! sooo late night studiers and dont want to walk far for food? Marshall is a good place for you! Their good dining balances out with their extremely small rooms xD Their triples are the size of a revelle fleet's doubles! Hmm... their apartments are really nice though (:

And then there's Warren (Lots of Engineers like Muir) : Warren has hot/cute guys~ my roommate agrees =x (maybe it's just us LOL) This is like the guy's school while ERC's like the girl's school xD weeiird! The rooms here are tiny too! but they have 'secret air conditioning' while other colleges dont! They're really close to the comp sci building so if you're a comp sci major or need those classes... biggrin.gif i would never walk from revelle to warren though.. welll unless i needed to, but it's a drag! their dorms are sooooo far and secluded like.. on the other side of the street! Warren's food are okay though. (: they have an Earl's place which is like... POTS in Revelle (a convenience store-like thing?)

ERC (Girl's school biggrin.gif like.. 70% girls?) I heard their dorms were pretty nice but personally i've never been in them. The dorms look amazing from the outside though. They have a nice dining hall and good food YES YOU CAN BUY ICECREAM MOCHI HERE! and sushi and yeah, good stuff. I also foun d out a lot of non natural science people go here. (like... communications, political science, economics, literature) I have friends from this college who run to the revelle dorms a lot to stay the night though. I dont really know what happens here either xD

Sixth (artsy school!) Lots of people with the ICAM major go here. They have newly renovated dorms and as a first year, you can choose to live in an apartment!! The dorms are pretty small though. Not as small as marshall or warren's but... still ehh. Food here is... very limited on choices. It does take a while to get to the dining because of all the construction but if you can find the short cut, it's all good biggrin.gif I heard the pizza here was good but i've only tried a bread bowl before. AND IT WAS SO SALTY!!!! This college is also pretty new biggrin.gif established in 2002 sooo... IT DOESNT EVEN HAVE A NAME!! O_O;

Hmm.. i hope... my opinion helps biggrin.gif it may be biased a lot around revelle =x

Oh yeah, i also have a question; I'm currently a Revelle student biggrin.gif where do revelle students live on campus second year?
I`m a signature. I bite. **CHOMP** (;

revelle students live in the Matthews Apartments second year over by Sixth. It sucks because it's all the way at sixth, but I hear they're not that bad.

On a side note, hang out with me, woman! ohmy.gif

does applying to an impacted major mean that it will be more difficult for you to get in, that they will be more picky with the students they let in that major? and will they limit the number of students in that impact major?

Exactly. They will rank students according to GPA and only pick the top students. It might be a better route to go undeclared and then do well in freshman year of university and try to apply for the major later on.

Hey! So I'm applying to UCSD and I'm wondering about the different colleges as well. I was reading xdecadent's descriptions of each (thanks, btw!) but I'm hoping for more opinions so that my perspective isn't all one sided.

Maybe you guys can help me choose which college?

About Me: I'm applying for cognitive science. I really like hanging out with people a lot, but sometimes I need my space. I get distracted really easily. I get depressed whenever I'm lonely (lame, but true -__- ) I'd prefer bigger rooms, but small rooms are fine as long as there's lots of sunshine... I can't stand dark places. I like good food. I like parties, but I don't think I'd be up for 24/7. I like being around really outgoing people. I can't stand bugs. I don't like sharing bathrooms, but it isn't a big deal for me. I'm a neat freak and hate dirty things/everything has to be clean. Uh...
Haha. (:

So which college do you think I would enjoy the most?

If you could list the pro's and con's of your own college, and the things you heard about the other ones, I'd really appreciate it. n__n Also, what class requirement stuff did your college have to do? What are they (the app) even talking about? Haha ..

Thanks sooo much!
