USB port problem

i have recently formatted my computer
and reinstalled windowsXP
everything is running fine
but none of my USB ports seem to be working
as in, when i plug in a flash drive the computer doesnt detect it in any way

when i plug in my printer it doesnt detect it
not even my webcam-.-

what could be the problem and is there a solution that doesnt cost me too much to fix this?

It seems as if you need to download USB drivers for your USB controller (usually, the ones on Windows XP work but i guess for you it doesnt).

Google the model of your computer + USB drivers

do u still have the cd for the motherboard?....the USB drivers are on that disk, or google ur motherboard brand and download the drivers.

I'm having a USB problem tOo~
Whenever I plug something into a USB port,
the computer freezes...
how do I fix it?

Download the lite version to find out the CHIPSET or make/model of your motherboard. Then download the chipset drivers or motherboard drivers whatever you want to call them.

BayByOjah (sheesh I get to practice my typing skills) your problem sounds different. In the future, connect a USB device to the port before turning on your computer. Then see if it finds it. If it does, then its a physical problem like your port is loose and you short out your computer when you plgu something in. If not, then you should go to the device manager, and uninstall your USB root hub. You might also consider downloading the program above to findo ut which chipset drivers to DL and dl those and upgrade/reinstall your drivers. Might fix it.

so i'm gonna try to dL that program & hopefully it works^^
