so i was burning some music onto a cd.
and when i put tei's cd in my cd burner, an alarm came up
on the screen, saying if i allowed some program to run or
to block it. i pressed block because i didn't know what
kind of program it was and then there was another
pop up saying that if i block it then i would all my
files and my computer wouldn't work the same.
so i clicked "allow" and then right when i clicked,
my start button on the bottom left (windows xp) disappeared
and all my programs are gone.
i don't know what happened sad.gif would it be a virus?
tears.gif i had so many files.

"tei's cd"? Uh can I assume its that singer guy and its a genuine CD you purchased?

If thats the case, that was probably copy protection and some bonus features included on the CD.

So what doesn't the computer do now?
Have you tried a simple restart/reset?
Have you tried a system restore?
Have you tried to do "Load with last known good configuration" if the computer can't even start up?

If it has a big problem, do you have another computer to might be able to plug the hard drive into to do some file recovery and saving? Might need to do a Repair Install of windows or just format in the worse case scenerio. Repair can fix without screwing up your files, but it has some risk.

even if i restart my computer, there's no use
because i can't do anything without my start button.
so even if i turn on my computer to load, or to repair install,
i can't because there's no button to click. all i see on the screen
is my wallpaper and that's it. no start button, no files, nothing.

happy.gif now we are getting somewhere.

Lets try to do a forced start with last known good configuration.

When you see the Windows XP is loading (with the little scrolling bar at the bottom) hit the reset button.
It will show you a screen "Windows did not start up properly blah blah blah"
Choose start with last known good configuration. Hopefully that will fix something.

And a repair install is a bit more involved than that. You have do basically go through the steps of reinstalling windows. Except you choose repair instead of erase everything you have. Fun eh?
