i've been wanting to buy an ipod for sometime now. i was asking my frend about it and he said that he wood be willing to sell me his 4gb ipod mini (which he got for 200+) for a price that is 40+. he said he really wants to get rid of it. he's had it for a awhile but he said its in really good condition. never been dropped. the only thing is its missing headphones. i offered him 100 for it but he said that it was too much. he woodn't set the price and he told me to set it. i dont know a lot about the stuff. so i was wondering what do you guys think is a reasonable price?

_____ edit

i think he's gonna give me all the stuff. but do ipods suck in quality or something? i heard that its hard to install the programs and its hard to transfer the songs and stuff.

but $40 is so little and i almost feel bad for ripping him off.

$40 sounds like a good price but are you only getting the ipod mini and nothing else? it usually comes with a usb cable, belt clip, itunes cd, and earphones at least i think. plus ipod minis are getting rare...

i have an ipod mini.. and 40 bucks for it is VERY cheap!
i got mine for $250...

BUT if u buy it off him there is a down side... how long has he been using it for? cause i used mine for a few months and the battery died! i had to mail my ipod to apples to get it replaced. The replacement was free cause i have 1 yr warranty, and ipods is not well known for good batteries.

so if his warranty is over already, and im assuming his ipod would be quite old right? then u might have to spend a lot to replace the battery. so why not buy a brand new one urself.

you can easily replace your mini bat.

go to cnet.com, , and search for instruction to replace it.

i already know that. ipod minis have been replaced by ipod nanos and they are not manufactured anymore, which means it's getting almost impossibly hard to find a brand new ipod mini. the few unopened ipod minis still sold in various places on-line have huge prices upwards to $400 even. it's getting rare because it's not being made.

I'd have to say that ipod minis are the most durable of the entire series.. being covered in metal instead of crappy plastics and such. $40 is a steal... even if it didn't work. I kinda want one myself.. I have an old 3G 20GB one...
I am the minority here.

WHOA $40? I'd jump at it right away. The iPod Mini, even refurbished/used, goes for like $200-$300+ on eBay as a "collectors item" O_O

I say get a new one. Who knows how long your friend had it for ? If the battery dies, you have to get a brand new one! Chances are, your friend had it for a long time and there's no telling how much longer the battery will last.

what it do, what it do?!

i still think its worth it for 40$
go to www.ipodmods.com
u can get the platinum or watever battery thing
its about 60$
and they send u or u can send in ur ipod
and u get a new battery once a year for as long as u have the ipod
so that will total out to being like 100$ which is still pretty good

ah theres probably a hidden motive behind it or hes just being really generous. and anyway they've gone out of production now so it might become quite valuable in years to come.
