Hey, I know most college students usually own laptops now but I'm curious about what kind you own and how it helps you or that sort.
I have a Apple PowerBook G4. It's for my art stuff and I use it a lot for my school work. Plus the design is so unique and cool. I think it's cute! My desktop, eMachines, totally sucks and it's getting too slow. I got that desktop back in 2001. Like 4-5 years ago.

I have a Toshiba Satellite notebook that I bought last year. I use it for everything (school, media, etc.) Very mobile, allows me to bring it onto campus to make use of their internet. But promised to give it to my younger brother this summer. (Pity since the screen and Harman Kardon speakers are awesome for watching movies)

I will be getting a HP tablet this summer (required for my school). Imagine 175 students with the EXACT same tablets sitting in a classroom. Lol.

apple does have the advantage of not having activex, which has been known to be used in spyware and crap.

i have a dell dimension 8400 with a gig of ram and 160 gb hd. it's not bad. needs more hd space though.

my dad got me an ultraportable notebook a few months ago(yay!!!!). It's an SONY TX650~~~ it's soooooooo tiny and i'm lovin it! ^^;;

and i own a Powerbook G4 too. but i only use it for my artworks now. i think it's a bit heavytoo. so it's more like a desktop to me... and i don't have desktops in my apt.

I have a desktop. I'm majoring in English so it's not like I need a laptop. And I like how desktops are more powerful (for less money) than laptops. And, I can easily upgrade my desktop by buying an extra stick of ram or something.

Moving in and out of residence is a bit of a hassle, but since I'm going to commute next year, it won't be a problem.

I use a laptop, but I don't bring it to classes since I prefer writing out my notes. I use it for fun and writing up reports when I have to.

I have both desktop and laptop. I use my laptop for university most of the time.. and then when im at home.. i don't really like sharing computers so I stick to the laptop. Its a handy thing to have!!

i have a really old compaq desktop, but i stopped using it after i got my gateway laptop. i wanted to sony but it cost a little more. i use my laptop for everything, but mostly for watching dramas. its like a little personal dvd palyer. lol.

I have a dell inspiron 9300 laptop. It's 17", so I don't carry it around anywhere. I'd rather have a desktop, but a laptop is much more convenient for moving purposes since I live 10 hours away (driving) from my house. And the only school related stuff I do with my laptop is write papers and type in Korean. Everything else is pure entertainment

decent is a vague term as people have differing perceptions of what is "decent".. laptops can range from $500 to as high as $3000. Check the laptop guide in the tech section.
