this is a quick question.

okay i have this. steel wheels/hub caps.
IPB Image

i want to replace it for rims.

in order to do that, would i have to buy rims that have FOUR lugs like this? since my hubcap has 4 lugs.
IPB Image

and along with buying rims i would have to buy tires for that right?

after that, i just go to a place that changes tires and replace them right?

would there be any extra parts i would have to buy or anything? if i just buy the 4 lug rims then tires, then replace it and it should be fine?

thanks.

as long as the hubcap tire is same size and is a direct fit over the alloy wheel, no you do not have to purchase anything differently.

usually, those who upgrade to alloy wheels over steelie wheels (the black police style wheels behind the hubcaps) are a larger size than the steelies... so i think it's a waste of money if you buy same size alloy wheel.

they replace the metal (rim) if the new rim is the same size as ur current rim which u have the hub cap on, they will take the tire off and put it on ur new rim..

Yeah, if the size of the rim is the same....both height and width....

But that wouldnt be much of an upgrade tongue.gif

ok. you have the 15" steelies with hubcaps AND tires right?

so if you want to change that combination to 16" alloy wheels, you'll have to buy new tires for the 16" wheels since the 15" tires from the hubcaps won't fit.

get it got it good?

just a new tire for the new rim(wheel) but make sure its a 4-lug because ur car only uses 4-lug nuts to hold the wheel..and make sure u get the new wheel balanced at a tire center..

Uh.. I can't answer the question. But I have a question of my own regarding tires that I don't want to make a new post just for it.

Is $250 for two 17-in tires a good deal?

Depends on what kind of tires. Seems a bit on the pricey side.

^yeah, but it depends on what kind of tire it is...but if its just your regular run of the mill tire, its a bit overpriced.

if those are the exact same rims (wheels) that you wanted, it needs to be a 4 lug...

...i'm just trying to act smart...

anyways, like everyone said, if its the exact same size, then it will fit on the tire that you have right now, but imo, i'd just buy low profile tires.

wait, i dont get your question:

what "parts"? youre just replacing a tire and wheel, think of it like changing a flat, as long as the spare is the right fit, then you should get it on no problem...you dont need "parts".

The best thing to do is to upgrade to wheels that come from the same car of a different trim level. In your case, from another Civic that came from the factory with alloy wheels. Or if they added it as an option that would work too. This way you guarantee that it will fit correctly. The reason I say this is because... just because it is 4 lug doesn't mean it will fit on another 4 lug car. For instance the Accord and Prelude have a 4x114.3mm wheel pattern and the Civic and Integra use 4x100mm pattern which basically means the 4 bolts are placed closer together. If you buy aftermarket wheels you have to know this info or you can get screwed like my stupid friend.

You can go to the dealer and buy them and get ripped off. Or get them on ebay or Honda forum.

Isn't it usually like 4x100 I think?

You need conical taper lug nuts, honda use ball nose nuts.
12x1.5

Hub centeric rings are recommanded for aftermarket wheels.

4x100, 7thgen civics bolt pattern.

Offset. anything from 40 to 45 would be perfect.

Stock wheel offset is 45.

17x7.5 is a tad wide for Civics. I recommend 17x7, but it is up to you. Also keep in mind that buying larger rims usually slow down your car and makes your gas mileage go down considerably if they are heavy. Crappy brand rims may be more susceptible to cracking and/or bending as well. I'm telling you this because I've never heard of Nex-O.
