i have a problem and i don't know when it started. i used to be able to type hangul pretty fine...but ever since my sister brought it to my attention that she had the problem with her laptop, i checked mine to show her how to solve it..and poof...apparently something was wrong with mine as well...this is the trouble...i used to use 'shift' to type letters like 'b' to 'bb', 's' to 'ss', 'e' to 'ye' (to those who know hangul, i'm pretty sure you know what i mean...and then i also used 'shift' before pressing the letter to produce the wa,wae,wi,wo letters....thing is i cannot do it now! example, every time i press shift and then the key for the hangul character for 'a', instead of turning to 'wa'..it remains to be 'a'.. same thing happens to w+vowel family...thing is, the soft keyboard option shows the alterations in characters whenever you press shift and for some reason the w+vowels aren't there to replace a,i,o,etc... when in that same soft keyboard display, 'b' has been replaced with 'bb', etc...how do i fix this??? hope you can help me (and understand my problem for that matter first)

nevermind, got it! tongue.gif

hii, i used this tutorial here to be able to type in korean.
it's been working perfectly up until now.
when i do that whole key sequence i usually do to type in korean,
it says KO, then i start typing, but it's in ENGLISH >____<
usually, the language bar has other icons [like a handwriting thing or something?] but now it doesn't.
i used to have to do that key sequence, then click on the "A" to change it to a korean character [i forgot which one, sorry -___-]

%$#@! if you can help me, i'd be mooosstt grateful! (:

nevermind, thanks anyway! ^_____^

Make sure you click IN the window you want to type, so it's selected before you change the IME. Then check in the little IME tab and see if it's in KO

Ahh yes, I posted another topic but I guess this should be the correct place to get some help xD!

I've been looking for a program that would enable me to type Korean. I don't have the Korean language pack installed on my Windows XP nor do I have the CD so downloading it from the site or installing it from CD wouldn't be an option. However, I can view hangul on my computer because I downloaded a Korean language support a while ago but that doesn't allow me to actually type it. I was wondering if any of you out there have a free program that would let me write Korean?

I've tried different programs like NJ star, etc, but those have an annoying registration pop up and it has a trial date and expires.. etc etc..

If your using Windows then there should be a bar at the top of your screen.
Next to Korean on the bar should be either a letter or a character with Han/Eng.
If theres an A then click it and it should turn to a character.
After that you should be able to type in Korean.

If it's on your toolbar then...
Press the button next to the KO if it's an A.
It should turn to a character then you should
be able to type in Korean.

Hope I helped.

Thank you SO much !!
I was getting really frustrated,
but then realizing that my bar was at the bottom
[ with only EN / KO option ] I decided to press 'Show Language Bar'
& then when it went to the top of my screen, I finally got the A Han/Eng
Thank you so much !
감사함니다!!

ah that's cause the korean layout of the keyboard is different than the english..
it might help you to buy those keyboard stickers.

ㅂ - Q
ㅈ - w / + shift is ㅉ
ㄷ - e / + shift is ㄸ
ㄱ - r / + shift is ㄲ
ㅅ - t / + shift is ㅆ
ㅛ - y
ㅕ - u
ㅑ - i
ㅐ- o / + shift is ㅒ
ㅔ - p / + shift is ㅖ
ㅁ - a
ㄴ - s
ㅇ - d
ㄹ - f
ㅎ - g
ㅗ - h
ㅓ- j
ㅏ - k
ㅣ- l
ㅋ - z
ㅌ - x
ㅊ - c
ㅍ - v
ㅠ - b
ㅜ - n
ㅡ - m

so saranghaeyo (사랑해요) would be tkfkdgody

I'm guessing this thread is only for Windows XP?
Windows Vista Home Premium, I don't think works....>.<
I tried to get the Language Interface Pack on the website, but they don't have Korean as one of the choices -__-

-EDIT-
Nvr mind :]
I got it, thanks to this website:

You can get Korean keyboard or keyboard stickers with Korean characters on it.
It makes everything easier if you are a beginner at using a computer or don't wish to refer to the key map image.

Here's my keyboard (excuse my ice-cream :]): http://anonym.to/?http://img337.imageshack...image002gq8.jpg
