hii^^ i have a question
whenever i use internet explorer or firefox and go to a korean website
sometimes, there are still parts of the site that have symbols
the majority is in korean but there are some symbols/alien characters
and the popups arent in korean..but rather wierd symbols...and korean is my default startup font for my computer
does anyone know how to fix that?

I think I have the same problem like you.

here's a screencap I took ~

How to fix that?? tears.gif

My friend told me to send the pc to shop for them to fix but is there any other way to do?
I mean,if it's easy to fix I can do it just by myself..

Thanks a lot for the keyboard reference. However, I couldn't find a combination of the keys to type a Korean word that look like:

ㅂ (but rotate 90 degree clockwise) on the left
ㅏ on the right
and ㄹ on the bottom

발 (a complete combination of the word; except I would like to change ㅂ clockwise)

Any helps would be greatly appreciated. I need it desperately to translate a subtitle.

Thank you very much.

-

Sorry, I couldn't find the combination of the this word too:

It looks like 겄ㅣ, but 거ㅣ should be right next to each other, with ㅆ at the bottom.

Thank you very much for your kind assistance smile.gif

To get ㄸ you have to hold down Shift+E (ㄷ)

So then you'll get "딸"

For your second problem, are you trying to write "ㅔ" To get that character, it's the "p"
Is "겠" what you were looking for?

Thanks for the help! On my previous computer I had the Korean, Chinese and Japanese already installed (The East Asian languages) but I was trying to fix that on my laptop as well. I don't have the CD and was trying so hard to install the Chinese. It's really simple! ^^ Anyway, a short summary, for those who don't have the Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD like me.

Step 1:
Go to download.com
Download Global IME (Simplified Chinese)/(Korean)/(Japanese), depending on which language you want to use.
Chinese: Office XP Tool: Global IME (Simplified Chinese)
Korean: Office XP Tool: Golbal IME (Korean)
Japanese: Office XP Tool: Global IME (Japanese)

Step 2:
Download the Simplified Chinese/Korean/Japanese Language packs, depending on which language you want to use.

Korean: Office XP Tool: Korean Language Pack
Chinese: Office XP Tool: Chinese Language Pack
Japanese: Office XP Tool: Japanese Language Pack

Step 3:
Run both applications. The files will be installed to your computer.

Step 4: Go to Settings > Control Panel > Date, Time, Language and Regional Options, and choose to add a new language.
Add either Chinese/Korean/Japanese.

VOILA YOU GOT IT. biggrin.gif
The Korean keyboard has a different layout so you've got to memorise it, or refer to a guide. For chinese, just use the keys on the keyboard to type out the pinyin. I haven't tried Japanese yet xD

it says that i need office Xp..i have windows Xp, what do i need to do to make it work?

^ yeah, you'll just have to remember what korean character links with which alphabet; it's not the same. for example, if you want the korean equivalent of 'ng', you'll have to type 'd' not 'n' then 'g'. this should help;

you'll get used to it after a while & be able to type korean without referring to this image.

^ Start -> Control Panel -> Clock, Language and Region -> (Regional and Language Settings) Change keyboards or other input methods -> Change keyboards... -> Add -> Choose Korean (Korea) -> Open the tree and you'll find 1. Keyboard, and 2. Other. In 1.Keyboard, tick Korean and Microsoft IME -> Click Ok -> Ok. And Done!

wow. These TOTALLY helped. YOU KNOW HOW LONG I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO THIS FOR???

the first time i tried last year...i got frustrated and gave up. And then tonight I spent an HOUR (felt like 5) reading instruction after instruction and
trying the downloads. But these 2 worked. I was doing the instructions that weren't for Vista...xDD

aish, SO confusing! But now that I got it, I just need to practice! w00t.gif

So I got those keyboard stickers from ebay and it was a really good suggestion because it is makes it soooo much easier to type when the characters are on the keyboard!!!

I can type Korean already, but I'm still a bit annoyed that when I mistype only one character, but I have to delete and retype the whole word. Is there any other way to fix it more simple and quickly ?
Thank u very much ^^

Can anyone help me?

I have windows XP home edition and I tried to install Asian Language pack, it tells me to insert the CD, so I did. It says I'm missing file xjis.nls. I searched my computer for it, it's not there. I'm not sure what to do! Please help!

Ok So surprisingly I fixed it myself! If anyone has trouble locating file XJIS.NLS on their Windows XP installation disk, open search on your pc and type in D:\i386 to search your disks directory. This fixed it for me. 감사함닏 YAY!

Also I found a huge list of Korean fonts if anyone is interested.

Korean Fonts

Anyone who needs help installing fonts I found this tutorial.

1. In order to install fonts on a Microsoft Windows computer, you must first download the fonts that you wish to install. Once you’ve done that, you should close all Windows applications.
2. Launch the Start Menu, select Settings, and open the Control Panel (if you are an XP/Vista user, you need not open the Settings directory). In the Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes. If you are using Microsoft Windows 2000 or have the Control Panel in Classic View, then double-click Fonts and proceed to step four.
3. Click Fonts under See Also in the task pane. If your computer presents you with a folder tree and not a task pane, then select Folders on the toolbar. Under the See Also category, click Fonts.
4. Select Install New Font under the File Menu.
5. Select the drive that the font(s) is located on, in the list of drives.
6. In the Folders list, double-click the folder containing the font(s) you would like to install.
7. After that, all you’d have to do is click on the font you would like to add and then click on the OK button. If you wish to install multiple fonts, hold down the CTRL key and select the fonts you want to install.

eek! was almost typing in random korean letters --'
So ive tried this before and it never worked. guess my problem was when there was korean underneath EN and not a KO section. sad.gif BUT now it works fine. tho it'd be easier if the h key gave you ㅎ and not ㅗ and etc for the rest of the funny ones. At least the c key gives you ㅊ thats one bit thats easier. I think ima have to buy stickers now. cuz my keyboard looks funky with blue lettering on it, i wrote the symbols on my keyboard so i wouldnt have to open the little keyboard that shows the symbols.
감사합니다! 사랑해!

p.s. im not korean so excuse my failure (if im actually failing with those words)
