the following is all i really know about each dorm but if anyone could provide more info, experiences, thoughts, opinions, anything~~ it would be greatly appreciated ;D
clark kerr- biggest dorms, farthest from campus, most expensive?
stern- dont know anything about this one besides that its all female?
unit 1- social, closest to campus
unit 2- social
unit 3- not as new as the other 2 units?

i live in unit 2 and i like it
if you're athletic i'd recommend clark kerr. they have better food since all the atheletes tend to live there. i heard they have steak for late-nite food!! crazyy.. but unit 1 or 2 is good. congrats on getting in to cal!! GO BEARS!!

When I went to visit a friend at Cal last September, i stayed at clark kerr. I personally didn't like it because it didn't seem very social. The hall was so quiet that it was scary. The restrooms at clark kerr are also horrible, they are so dirty!

I lived in Unit 1. Clark Kerr, is nicer but more expensive and farther. Stern, all girls but at Foothill which is on the top of North side (more where the engineering buildings are)..basically, South Side is considered the more social area where Unit 1, 2, 3 are located. Unit 1 and 2 have newer dorms (NOT all of them are new, only a few). If you care about proximity, I'd say Unit 3 or Unit 1. Generally, people say Unit 3 is the closest...and it is the closest in terms of Telegraph Ave. I wouldn't really worry about food too much, there are a lot of options and you can eat at any dining commons even if you don't live there.
hope that helps.

Thanks for all the input guys!
But would you guys suggest co-ed floors or getting a single gender floor? I'm kind of freaked out about having co-ed bathrooms
but I heard the single gender floors arent as social as the co-ed ones?

Move into Co-ops. Yeah, you have to work 5 hours of workshift/week
but it's half the price of the dorms!
There are coed as well as single-sex co-ops, so check them out!
