i'm under cingular, and i've never upgraded my phone before so i don't know how they charge you... do they charge you full price for the phone and you keep your old phone or do you do a trade in and get a new phone for a cheaper price?
to be more specific...
i have an LG L1400i (a clamshell looking thing with camera) but i want the pink or black razr (retail:$150).
can anyone tell me around how much i would probably have to pay?

if you go to a cingular store or a authorized dealer than you have to pay for the one or two year agreement price and they will charge you $30 bucks for activation on your bill.

Yes, you have to buy it at full price and keep your old phone, or just keep your old phone and sign another contract with them.

i'm under t-mobile and when i want to upgrade my phone it has to be at least a year since i got my old phone because they have 1 year contracts... at the end of the contract i just make a new contract same as before and then i can get a new phone with a discount. maybe cingular works this way too?

I'm pretty sure if you're exchanging your phone AND renewing your contract with cingular, you get quite a discount, so its not at full retail, but still the $150 is what they will probably charge you (since full retail on a RAZR is more than $150). eBay, if you can find something for cheap, u'd only really have to swap out the sim card, but ya. I mean you might get a discount from cingular being a returning customer.. and such, but I dunno.

just port your numbrt to tmo, it will be more expensive to do an upgrade. unless you wanna have a whole new contract to get the phone cheaper and new number
