Another question
I heard that if you receive a D for a class and retake it adn get an A u get the D dropped and the A adopted in the transcript which affects ur GPA greatly.
But if u get a C, regardless of ur next grade, u keep that C
is this true?

As someone already said...
You can only retake classes that you got a D or a F in.
If you repeat a class that you got a C- or higher in...you will get an X on your transcript...which means ILLEGAL REPEAT!

Here is some more info (for future reference...) about repeats.

You can retake the class ONCE.
...so if you take "chem 2a" and fail it the first time...then take it again and fail again...the third time you repeat the class, you will need to petition the Dean's office to retake the class.

If the repeat grade will ALWAYS replace the initial grade.
...so if you get a D the first time around, but you retake it and get an F. The "F" will replace your "D" and the units you received for the "D" will be taken away!!

for all upper division classes, do you have to be at junior standing to take them? Junior standing is 90 quarter units, right?

You do NOT need to be in "upperclassmen standing" to take upper division classes.
Just make sure you have taken the prerequisites for the class before enrolling in the class on SISWEB!!
I generally recommend that upper division classes be taken towards the end of freshman year at the earliest...but it is different for everybody.

PLEASE!! if you are ever have questions about academics...please refer to your Dean's office or if you are a freshie living in the dorms, there are advising centers where people can help (I work there --shameless self-plug...lol )

Anyways to make it short, I'm planning to take Japanese 5 next quarter, but I prob. need help cuz i haven't really done too well the last 4 classes lol. Hope everyone will welcome me and let me kno if u take Japanese as well, cuz i prob will kno u, creepy huh?

Heeeey everyone! I've been on a Soompi hiatus for a looong time now so this is the first time I've stepped foot into the UCD thread. STAY!! He's a good lecturer and you're only waitlisted #4. There are a gazillion people who want your spot! And you'll def get in! So just stay and try.

^lol, seriously? i'm not big on riding my bike to class anymore -- i tend to bus. but when i go out on the weekends with my roommate and friend, we ride our bikes.

i need to make new friends. haha. it's hard to make them when you live in an apartment.

AND YES let's have another UCD SOOMPI MEET. let's make sure a BUNCH of us can make it this time. last time, it was pretty cool, even though there were only 6 of us. i even made a facebook page and everything. haha.
