Question: I was wondering if it's necessary to bring your laptop for registering on the days of orientation. Is it still possible to do it when we get there in the fall for freshman?
Thanks. :]

I am! I read a post from another Davis person on here about bringing one just in case, so you can keep up and register. But I can't seem to find it, loll
OMG..Is anyone going to orientation on 7/19-7/21???? Meet up, yeah yeah?

Also, you will be able to register for classes with your own laptop when registration time starts. Everyone else who does not have a laptop must wait in line to use the orientation leader's laptop.

Aww it's okay to be nervous! I was really nervous too, but if you think about it, everyone else will be too since no one knows each other. So just relax, be open and smiley, leave your dorm room open and always look friendly! You will have a fun time haha!

I was wondering if anyone could suggest what classes I should take (I am majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology)
At first, i was really excited to learn about my major, but now, I'm really afraid of the difficulty and harsh course load.
also, is there anything to do for fun at Davis?
I already know about Picnic Day and the parties, but are there any shopping malls (im an obsessive shopper), movie theatres, nice hangout spots on campus/town, etc.?

Thanks for the laptop related help though. Otherwise, I would've just left my lap top at home. :]

Word of advice: Just keep introducing yourself. Everyone's in the same boat as you are, and it really won't hurt to just strike up a conversation with the person next to you. The nametags they give you help a lot too, hahah. Oh, and be very open to the classes you end up registering for. Make sure you pick as many as you can, because a lot of them are closed
I gotta say, I was kind of confused by the bathrooms though. Tercero, Laben, 3rd floor, there's a bathroom that had a women's sign, but on the second night, it changed to a men's sign...LOL I was in there with this other girl and we were staring at it like, "No...it was definitely a women's sign yesterday."
monchi: Yeah, there's outlets in the laptop registration room, and it really doesn't take long anyway. If you're going to use it to register for classes (My orientation leader preferred that we wait to work one-on-one), you should be able to find an outlet wherever you're meeting them. We were in a lounge area.

What classes should take if I am majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology?
and are there any large shopping malls in Davis? or good clothing stores such as H&M, Forever21, Urban Outfitters?
and are there any Tapioca places or Frozen Yogurt places in Davis?

but your last two questions -- NO, there are no large shopping malls or good clothing stores like f21 in davis. hitch a ride with your upperclassmen friends (if your lucky) to arden fair mall in sacramento.
there are tapioca places -- such as the old teahouse and quickly's. there are also a good number of frozen yogurt shops, like yolo berry and cultive. (i'd stick with cultive for cleanliness -- kids, and even college students, tend to dip their hands into the bins at yolo berry. it's gross.)

In your first two years, you'll pretty much take what all other biology majors must take. This includes, physics 7 series, bis 2 series, general chem series, the organic chem series, and calculus.
Generally, most bio majors finish the general chem and calculus classes during their freshmen year. I think it would be a good idea to start the bis 2 series during winter or spring quarter of freshmen year also.
By the time you reach your 3rd year, i'm pretty sure you'll have a good grasp of what you should take for upper division classes.
