as an incoming freshman, you will not be able to switch majors your FIRST quarter...so you will have to wait till winter quarter to switch.

that being said, the classes you'll be taking your first quarter will probably be the same regardless of which major you are in (NPB or Bio-Med Eng).

i'm assuming you'll have a schedule similar to:
MAT 16a/17a/21a (don't take 17 or 21 unless you have to...17 doesn't make you a better candidate for professional schools...it's just a harder class...just my advice)
CHE 2a
GE
GE

I would suggest talking to the NPB advisor some time during Fall quarter so you get a feel of the major and major requirements, and they can plan out your four years...

You can file the "change of major" form any time you want to after the end of Fall quarter.

thank you very much!!!

that's pretty much my schedule, except, i taking workload for writing..so im having difficulties selecting GE classes

a question about GE course...

so i know there's this 13units min for min-progress and a 12units min for financial aid...
so now i have 9units listed on the schedule, but they did not list any units for workload...
i was told that workload gives 4.5 credit towards some where...so i was wondering
a) will i get in trouble because of the workload credits not being shown? I wont get kicked out right? biggrin.gif
cool.gif do the workload classes count towards min-progress and financial aid?

and what does "max hours exceeded" really means on the sisweb?!
thank you very much!!

the workload units count towards minimum progress so you won't get in trouble or get kicked out. i think the reason the units aren't listed for workload is because the units don't count in your gpa? The "max hours exceeded" is listed because you are trying to add a class that goes over the unit limit. For example, if the maximum units you can have is 17 and you have 14 units, trying to add a 4 unit class would make "max hours exceeded" show up. It should say on sisweb when you try to register the number of maximum units you can have and the number you currently have. i can't see the registration page because it isn't my pass yet so correct me if i'm wrong sweatingbullets.gif

I bought a new bike a couple months ago. After going through DavisWiki's bicycle sections, I'm super worried. My dad loves the bike (as is), and I want to be able to give it to him next year so he won't have to walk to work everyday.

Anyone think a cable lock + U lock (& proper locking) is good enough (along with park in the middle of a bunch of bikes/keep moving it)? If not, what can I do to make my bike look ridiculous/disgusting without really ruining it? I would do stickers, but they leave behind white, sticky stuff. I might try FOIL stickers, my friend said they're a lot easier to remove.

for textbooks,
Do you recommend me purchasing an international edition if it's $50 cheaper (+brand new)?
nvm! my goodness someone already bought it.

I think as long as you have a U-Lock, your bike wont be in much risk of being stolen. No one i know who uses a U-Lock has had their bike stolen. It's usually the bike's that are locked up with cables that look like they could be cut with scissors that are.

Just make sure you take precaution as to where and how you lock your bike. Make sure you lock your frame to the bike rack, and not the front wheel to the bike rack (if it has a quick release bar, you can easily take it off). At night, park your bike where there is lighting and where there are a lot of other bikes around.

does the negative mean that my finanical aid paid for the rest and that I need to pay that difference?
I also got charged twice for my Intent payment (i think)
but i'm not sure because it said that i only owed 149 for orientation..so was the 100 just reinforcing that it was paid for?
Thanks for any help.

the negative sign means that you will be getting money back. if you go under the "ebills" tab near the top of the page, a detailed list of your charges (fees) and credits (financial aid/waivers) will be displayed. when you subtract your financial aid from the fees you should get -500.35. i think the 100 was on there to say that it was paid for. you can verify how much you paid by looking at the detailed list also. sorry if you're still confused after reading this.

yes, what simplieesweet said.

the - amount is the extra left over money after financial aid covered the bill for you. you can either pick up that money as a check from dutton hall or sign up for the direct deposit service online, which sends it to your bank account.

I got Segundo - Rienda for my dorming which is located in the Regan Hall area. I know it's one of the older Segundos but is there anything else that is bad? Everyone keeps saying how they're "so relieved" to not get Regan. What's so bad about Regan anyhow? Haha. : )

Hey just a quick question: I heard that you get a certain number of free printing copies from Davis's printing room per quarter? How many copies is it exactly?

@bloobubles

you get 60 copies per quarter free, but as long as you don't go over 90 you do not have to pay anything. but say if you were to go to 91, you would have to pay for the extra 31 copies you printed

You can print exactly 90 for free.

If you go over by 1, they charge around 5 cents per sheet starting from print #61

on the subject of copies...i WENT OVER MY COPIES LAST QUARTER! sad.gif saddest day of my life. haha. i have to pay...2 dollars and something cents for it. when you LEAST expect it, you use up your copies. i'm going to try to be more vigilant about it now...maybe STEAL some of my boyfriend's copies secretly. hahahaha.

so, who's excited for school? i'm pretty excited, actually...don't forget about the 1st week of school events:
1. Downtown block party (i think it's the night before school starts)
2. THE BUZZ (friday night 9/25)

lol..it seemed like a lot to me for some reason.
