You can find an upperclassmen (preferably a friend/someone you're related to)
to get the permit for you and you pay them.. huh.gif ..

My parking permit is up for $301! Any takers? wink.gif Bahaha, jk.

And I have another question:
I took two courses during the summer at my community college. I gave the registrar my transcript in the middle of winter quarter, they're STILL not up. How long do I have to wait for them to show on SISWEB? I know there is a priority system seniors>juniors>sophomores>freshman, or that they're overwhelmed with other transcripts, but this is RIDICULOUS.

Are they always this slow?! Do they not like me? D:

Or maybe I'm just looking at the wrong place. unsure.gif

I have to refrain from marching in there and entering the information myself. Rawr.

^Best bet is to go to the registrar's office and double check. You never know what could've happened. And yes, the registrar is always this slow.

Not necessarily in it, right? But, it definitely is located around apartments.

^one of my friends didn't go to summer advising (orientation) b/c she had to do some military stuff.
But she told me that she got help registering for classes during the first few days before instruction starts (when the dorms open for freshmen).
Orientation is basically when they help you register for your classes and take your placement exams.
But from what i could remember, they give you other dates within the quarter for you to take those placement exams (for ppl who needs to retake also).
However, it's best if you go to orientation so you won't be w/in the last batch of students to register for classes.
Classes get filled up quickly, and you won't have to worry about taking your placement exams.
They have some workshops for you to go to (which is optional) about UCD.
Plus, you can get questions answered personally w/ your adviser and meet some cool ppl before school actually starts! =PP
.. I think you should go. =)

I`m going to Davis next year! Class of 2012 :] I accepted to Davis already, and then started to fill out all the forms online. It`s overwhemling O__O. I`m going as a Biological Sciences major. Anyone have any advice to give me, or anything to tell me about Davis? I`m afraid of failing out of my classes and stuff O_O. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated :]

^Don't overload your first quarter. Sooooo many freshmen bomb their classes because they tackle like 17 units their first quarter and end up failing half their classes. Registrar will get up on ur booty if u keep screwing up. I'd advise you to take 3 classes your first quarter (about 13 units which will still leave you in good standing and eligible for financial aid). Get your GE classes out of the way too...taking them your first quarter is one of the best ways to transition into college. If there was a choice, you'd rather get a C in one of your GE classes than a C in a major class right? And I'd hate to break it to you, but freshmen usually end up with leftover classes since they're at the very bottom---registration goes via something like athletes-honors-class standing(super seniors, seniors, juniors, sophs, freshies). So don't fret too much about not getting a class- you have loads of time. My goodness, ur class if 2012!

^Dorm life is something you have to experience. It'll be a lot harder to meet people if you commute since most of the friends you encounter your first year are people you meet from dorms. Besides, it'll give you a taste of genuine independence.

Congrats to everyone who got in and welcome to the thread!

^and you don't have to ride bikes, you can walk. It's a pain though if you have classes all across campus.
Traffic, yes. There will be TONS of accidents on your first week of school.

&&
Take the tour.

Everyone and incoming freshman should come to UCD's Picnic Day! April 19, basically UCD's open house except it's happy hour all day. =] You'll find all the interesting/appealing things about UCD there. (I'm head assistant of Entertainment. X] )

I'm an econ major too, so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

ducks, bunnies, squirrels, crows, cows, horses, u name it they're all in davis...haha.

to be honest there are not much attractions in Davis, unless of course u spend ur time checking out all the clubs and events

biking is not required but it is the preferred transportation cause :

1. its faster than the bus because you dont have to wait every 10-15-25 minutes
2. you can go anywhere on campus in a matter in minutes
3. bike route = shortcut to south davis apartments
4. its really good exercise.. trust me u will need it if ur not trying to gain the freshmen 15 !
5. well yeah u can bring a skateboard, skooter, etc. also

Davis is basically a small town community where there is relatively low crime rates, a friendly atmosphere, lots of people to meet, etc. so it's pretty relaxing if ur into chillin' out and gettin' ur study on, and having occasional dances/party events. I forgot the stats but theres about 30-40% asians 40% caucasians.

If ur not into dorms on campus, u can sign up for the suites (apartment style) at cuarto which is right next door to campus. The dorm life is something unique and you will probably have the most fun u will have throughout ur stay in davis, u will meet new friends guaranteed !

...and at the beginning of every school year there's the freshmen rally that will get you hyped up to be an aggie smile.gif

GO class of '09 ! biggrin.gif
