when I get up there... but oh well, have to live without
eating some stuff some times I guess.... but how
about Karaoke? Is there any place with private
rooms and some asian songs?
Also, anyone going up to Davis for Orientation? I'm going
with the third session... is that bad? Will all the good classes
be taken by that time?

I think they set aside a certain amount of classes and slots for each orientation session or something like that. I had my orientation in the middle of July and was one of the last people to register for classes in my orientation group, so I got all the crap classes. I couldn't even get into Chem 2A when there's like a million chem classes. Some of my friends who had a later orientation got into it so that's why I'm pretty sure that a certain number of slots are allotted for each orientation session to make it kinda fair if you have a late session. It doesn't hurt to have an early orientation session though. Freshmen get all the leftovers anyway so it shouldn't really matter if you don't get the classes that you really want. Just take interesting and fun classes and don't kill yourself your first quarter.
On that note, I have no idea what classes I'm going to take for Fall Quarter. I'm kinda stuck between majors and just very confused. I have an appointment with an advisor next week so hopefully that will help. I hope that I'll figure everything out before my pass 1 in a couple weeks.

Some of my friends that i met this year didn't take that writing exam seriously..
So they got stuck w/ that course.
But.. you should be ok if you just know your stuff and go with the flow.

By the way, thanks so much you guys for answering my questions... I swear, I am soo thankful... I would bake you guys cookies.... if we weren't over the internet.... or maybe I'll just send you a virtual cookie?

The 120 meal plan should be enough if you are going to cook for yourself once in a while. I had the 150 meal plan but I dropped it to 120 this quarter because I had way too many swipes left over. I eat at the DC twice a day for lunch and dinner. Breakfast isn't really worth it in my opinion and I'm just too lazy to get up in the morning. I just grab a granola bar and go to class. After fall quarter I think I had like 20 swipes left over because I went home a lot. The swipes carry over so at the end of last quarter I had like 35 swipes left over and I went home a lot too, probably more than in fall. Even after dropping my meal plan by 30 swipes, right now I have like 40 extra swipes that I need to use. I'll be raiding Trudy's soon before my extra swipes get converted to $2 Aggie cash or whatever. I have friends that have 120 and 90 meal plans who only eat at the DC once or maybe twice a day so 120 should be sufficient.
About the downloading, though they say like DON'T DOWNLOAD and even put warnings on the doors and ethernet ports I haven't had any problems at least so far. But the stuff I download is like Asian music and Asian dramas so I don't think they really care as long as it's not American stuff. File-sharing programs like Bittorrent don't work and won't even start, but things like Megaupload and Sendspace are fine. I thought that they shut off my internet once and got really scared because I was downloading a lot but it turned out that my ethernet port was just messed up and needed to be fixed

I think 120 is plenty.
I started out with 120, but had A LOT of left-overs by the end of winter qtr.
So i dropped it to the 90 meal.
You won't be wanting to eat there EVERY SINGLE DAY + MEAL. Trust me.
.. well, that's how it was for me.
As for the downloading issue, you should be fine if you d/l from upload servers like megaupload, sendspace, boxnet etc.
I remembered the FIRST time i downloaded on campus.. it was from megaupload and i was hecka scared. >__<
But.. i found out it was ok after many tries.. xDD
As long as you don't use any torrents. And they recommend for you to uninstall programs like limewire etc.
You'll be fine as long as you don't touch any torrents. =]

You would have to take placement tests in chemistry and math since Biochem requires both math and chemistry courses. To take Chem 2A you need at least a score of 21 on the chem placement test and a 25 on the math placement test. I'm not sure how much you need on the math placement test to take a math class because I was exempted from it, but you do need to meet the Mathematics Placement Requirement in order to take either of the Math 16, 17, or 21 series. There are also placement exams for foreign languages if you already have some knowledge and experience with say Spanish or whatever language if you want to continue taking language classes but you only really need to worry about foreign language classes if you intend to get a BA. The placement exams aren't that hard and you can satisfy the requirements with things like SAT scores and AP test scores too.
To all the fellow Aggies, is it always this hot in Davis in the summer? I'm from the Bay Area and it never gets this hot in the middle of May. I'm dying in my dorm room right now because it's close to 10 PM and it's 86 degrees outside. All the AC in the A-M buildings in Tercero isn't working because of a pipe leak so today has just been miserable. Not looking forward to tomorrow's 103 degree weather

I got an email for Davis Honors Challenge...
What exactly is Davis Challenge and do you think I
should go for it or is it too much for a first year/ I
should enjoy life more first, since I'm already
planning on joining some clubs and stuff.

you get mailed a letter saying you have to talk to student housing people or something and your internet gets suspended. i used bittorrent all the time last year, but i never got caught, but then again i didn't dl much. my roommate got caught for sharing files though.

at the school owned apartments. Is that true? If it is, is there anyway that I can sneak my way in? Because
how do the apartment people know that you are a transfer... do they ask for your transcript or something? lol.

I'm trying to decide which dorm I should pick but I'm not sure which is the best. Segundo, Tercero, or Cuarto? & which halls? (Im a freshman)
Can someone tell me which has the best location in campus and has clean rooms& bathrooms?
It would be great if the dorm were near an Asian (preferably Korean) restaurant.
Also, which has the best dining halls?

Cuarto is not on campus just to let you know. Tercero is in the area where the cows live at. Segundo is basically where you should choose to live. It's close to the ARC, close to the shopping center, and it's close biking/walking to your classes (that is not to say Tercero isn't, since it is too). I'm not sure where the Korean restaurants are, but most likely they'll be in Downtown Davis, which is like walking distance or biking distance from campus.
In terms of clean rooms and bathrooms, if you live in Cuarto, you have your own bathroom to share with who ever lives in your "apartment" like housing. But in terms of Segundo and Tercero, you share the bathroom with everyone else and most of the time they're usually clean and not DIRTY. Rooms? Well, they're clean and livable until YOU move in and its up to you to keep it nice and clean, if you care to do so.
Dining halls? I believe they serve the same food in all dining halls. I may be wrong since it has been 3 years since I've lived in the dorms. Segundo just got a new dining hall. I hear it's pretty nice. WAY better than the one I used to go to!
I hope this helps =P.
