OhhhH! So that's how they look like on the inside. Wow.. that's just awesome!
I went to Moshi Moshi yesterday night and was so confused about the layout of housing/businesses there. Wasn't sure where to park either.
And great advice for the freshmen. I agree with you about leaving your dorm room open during the first-second week after move-in. Everyone is most likely in the same boat as you and they'd like to meet their neighbors. The dc is always the place to bond. Haha.. Definitely take advantage of all they'll be offering during orientation week. And go explore the campus on your own for one day!! -if you haven't done so already. If you're worried about not finding your classes (like i was

Yes, the loans also come at the same time as your grants.
Everything (loans and grants and reimbursements)
will all be deposited together into your account at the same time, in a single amount. Hope this helps! <3

I heard that the only way we know what books to get are to go to the bookstore because no one has the list of books. xx_melody a couple posts back explained a lot on books :]
Yeah, I got confused when my account balance went up to 6k also. But then if you go to recent account activity, it`ll show you that they also billed you for dorms and orientation, that`s why the bill went up :] The original bill was 3k because it was your tuition plus SHIP fee. Hope that helps :D

as for the dorm necessities, bring shower shoes and of course necessities like shampoo, toothbrush, etc.
as for books, the bookstore does things thing ever fall quarter where they'll order your books for you based on your schedule and pack it in the box and have it ready for you to pick up. you can try looking for it on the UCD bookstore website.

I got signed up for workload math, my orientation leader told me it doesn't count towards degree/graduation credits but it counts towards minimal progress (the units for that quarter) and verification of full time status. I understand that but my question is, what does workload math allow me to do? Can I enroll in the Math 8a serious or like the Math 16a series?
I don't know where I go AFTER i take workload math, I mean it's bad I have to take this class but I don't even know if I'll be able to take the 'higher' level maths after...

im still living at home at the moment, not planning to move up there until the week before school starts but i'd like to get the books at a sooner date sometime next week. i'm not going to use the reservation thingy. and according to this thread there's not really a booklist for courses so i wanna go up there and just look for them.

Math 16 series are for people who aren't majoring in anything that really requires math. So for example, if you're a nutrition science major, you could take math 16 series.
math workload is somthing to prepare you for math 16 a but i think it's a waste of time!!! so if you can, test out of it.
one of the things i regret my first quarter in davis is that i took too many random classes.. like philosophy that i don't need

Cause I was wondering how it was like.
I'm gonna be a second year food science major, and I was always stuck in limbo between food science and nutrition.
I mean, it's still early, and I can change it while I'm working on my GE's.
I just wanted to know if I really made the right decision.

Oh and another question: how many credits do you think would be average/ do able and what would be taking on too much in your opinion?
And here's the last question (very sorry): for the financial aid, Does your bill deduct directly from it? or do you pay the school first (for tuition) and they reimburse you back or something?

Biking from Physics/Geology to Olson is very doable in under 10 minutes. Probably no more than 5 minutes at most. I know it looks far on the map but it's really not. A 10 minute bike ride would be like from Cuarto to Olson. Just a word of caution to any new Aggies, be very careful when biking the first week of fall quarter. Way too many bike accidents...
You should average around 15 units each quarter. I started out taking 13 units my first quarter but had to drop one of my classes and ended up taking 15 instead. I've been taking 17 units every since and it's honestly not that bad. Still plenty of free time that I should use studying but I don't
Can't really help on financial aid that much...

You should be fine with biking from Phys.Geo to Olson.
As for financial aid. Yes, it automatically pays your fees for you and will leave you w/ a credit balance (if you have any) that will be disbursed to you on the given date. For Fall, i believe it will be Sept. 16th. Here's the financial aid calendar: http://financialaid.ucdavis.edu/undergradu...ugcalendar.html
