Just wondering, do you guys bring a printer to your dorm too or do you just use the school's? Is having a printer in your room necessary and more convenient?

Don't need to bring your printer. LRC gives the freshmen alooot of prints. not using them is wasting your tuition away. Unless...you need to print colored prints, than you will need your own printer. Printing labs are all over the campus, more convenient than going back to your dorm room to print stuff out.

Oh, one more thing to freshmen, it's not really a thing you can avoid, but the reception in most parts of campus and some parts of davis is really bad, at least from my experience. I had AT&T, and inside most dorm rooms, there was no reception. Same thing goes for around lecture halls and dining commons.

I'm not sure about all phone companies, but, my friend with verizon seems to have had better luck with me though.

^Too true

I never get reception in the DC or in the library. It varies for lecture halls. Sometimes I'll have a signal and other times I get nothing. I got ok reception in my dorm room but I would usually lose a bar or two if I moved from my desk to my bed. One of my friends only got a signal in her room when she was standing right next to her microwave.

Does anyone know how likely it is for me to get into Physics7a if I'm waitlisted #4?

physic 7 series are really easy to get in on waitlist. As long as there are room in the class, the TA will let you attend and give you a PTA number. #2 can get in for sure but i don't know about #7, you might want to switch to another less crowded DL if your class is too crowded on the first day. Just ask the TA which of his or the other TA has less people in it.

does anyone have any experience with bis 2a waitlist?
I'm on waitlist #3 and the prof said he can only accept 2 more per section. So am I basically screwed or will I be able to get into another section.
thanks

Okay so here's a crazy OCD question.... SHOULD we bring garbage bags? Or are those provided like the toilet paper? Or should I bring toilet paper just in case?

i think it depends wat dorm ur in.

i think there's those small black trash cans in all the rooms. u can prob bring ur own trash can if u want too tho

if ur in cuarto, like me, then...u have to supply ur own toilet paper. if ur in segundo or tercero tho u dont need to bring toilet paper

BAH im waitlisted for bis2a also.
but im #2 so hopefully i'll get in.
and yeah davis does have terrible reception for some people but i have verizon and it's never been a problem for me ever.
oh wait except when i was in the basement computer labs but i think it's like that for everyone down there.

and i jsut used regular grocery plastic bags for my trash bins.
i mean those bins arent huge... at least not in segundo they werent.

Sorry for the barrage of questions, but here's another one.... where do you guys get your water to drink? Did you guys buy a 32 pack of arrowhead like I am planning to do, or get the (really nasty tasting) water purifiers? Or is it some miracle that the dorms give away water at random times?

I used to buy the 32 pack from Rite Aid, but after a while I was too lazy to constantly go out and buy it. I'm pretty sure there are drinking fountains inside the dorms? The tap water IS drinkable but ehhh... just think of it as minerals that are good for your body?! LOL

Now I refill a reusable water bottle at the CoHo every day since I'm always nearby, and then wash with soap and water between uses. I use something like this:

yeah...... this method is great for me but not for others. =X
i fill it with ice, then water, then i skip away to class haha

u could get a brita water fileter if u want. my registration adviser for orientation said they were useful, so i bought one yesterday. she says they're nice to have cuz u can just put the brita jug in the fridge and get cold water anytime.
