im registered for japanese 1 right now but im taking the placement test on friday.
so if i take the exam and score higher than japanese 1, are they going to kick me out of the class?
i know i dont get a letter grade for jap1 since i took it for 3 years in high school but i was thinking of just sticking to it for units/reviews.
No, they won't "kick you out" i believe. It's really up to you if you want to drop it and register for the class that you scored for..
At least that was what i was told last year at my freshmen orientation.

Show up to class! It's important to show up to show that you want to be in that class and reserve your spot. Also, not everyone shows up to class on the first day, maybe because they're not sure if they want the class...many of these people will eventually drop that class. A handful of people also drop the class after the first day (they just want to see what the class is like, get the syllabus, read the grading policies, etc.). Many professors eventually hand out PTA (petition to add) numbers to students who are still waitlisted, so that they can offically enroll in the class on Sisweb.
When you show up to class, the professor will most likely ask how many people are waitlisted currently for the class. He/she then can consider handing out PTA numbers if there is enough room for those people to enroll. The first week is usually hectic, but be patient and reserve your spot, especially so that you don't miss out on anything important! GOOD LUCK

Well, if you need to look up your class books, or make a visual schedule, you can always go to siscast.
http://ucd.siscast.com/
and, by the way, I have the books for MAT 16A that i'm looking to sell
Well, for discussions, if there's any doubt, it's always best to go to the discussion time anyways, because if it there really was class and you didn't show up, you could most likely get dropped from the class. Better safe than sorry.

depends on your pace. i can get from olson to geidt in less than 15 minutes (and i'm going to have to do it again this quarter...crud). but yes, i think you could make it, like right on time. know your shortcuts!

I'm like totally freaked out by bike riders. I saw two crashes the other day and now I'm seriously thinking of walking to my classes. Lol.

i've tried it today and lets just say it aint worth the trouble. i got to class just in the nick of time. i mean seriously the teacher started talking just as sat my butt down into a chair in the back. and that was at my definition of walking faster than usual.
next time im biking lol even though i dislike it somewhat.

Besides, you can make it fun by learning to ride hands free, like I did. It's funnn. Just controlling it by leaning. =]
