say ..if u put urself in this position what would u do? laugh.gif

You know that your best friend is having an affair. You are asked by her/his husband/wife directly whether or not this is true. You know that to answer in the affirmative will break up your friend’s family.

a) What is the Utilitarian (useful, effective ) position and why?
cool.gif What is the Ethical Egoist ( more of meaning a selfish or self-interest) position and why?
c) What is the Categorical Imperative position and why?
d) What is your own position and final decision, supported by reasons? Your decision may be based on one of the positions listed, or it may be unique. Explain and justify your reasoning.

i just need every opinions to sum up for ideas since i have another essay to type up to 6 pages! wacko.gif sweatingbullets.gif

Yeah, seriously hunnie. This is college, you can't have other people doing your homework. =/
Research it yourself.
Please don't forget me. { I'm going away. }
I'm taking a taxi to Kentucky where they don't even know all about me. I just need to feel s a f e.
I've got a thousand sweaters, and shoes, and paintings to hide the skeletons in my way.
But he said, "Slow down, slow down. Think it over, we've all got wretched closets, but silly girl pride kills more than Aids lately."
I said, "Come on, I thought it over. I don't wanna die here. I have no desire to get m♥rried."
Every night I pray for you, don't believe in heaven or that it could be a happy place.

Word to the two above.

I've said this once, and I will say it again.

GOOGLE.COM IS YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND.

I'm taking an ethics class too. And it's the most annoying and stupidest thing to study and argue about.

I'm studying ethics at the moment too in one of my classes (namely Aristotle's Nichomachean ethics and Thomistic ethics). I find that with ethics you can argue a lot of points depending on your own opinions. If you seriously think about the implications of ethics on practical situations, you'll find that acting in an unethical manner will also likely be ethical depending on the way you observe the issues present.

I hate ethics.

a. feign ignorance, this way u keep both friend and family both on your side
b. feign ignorance then say you'll ask you friend about it and then blackmail him
c. dont' know cuz unlike a and b u didn't give me hte phranethsis ><
d. i would basically feign ignorance and do nothing, try not to find out anything and just claim it is not my place because truthfully it isn't. then i would smack my best friend upside the head and demand he take me out to dinner cuz i didn't bust his @$$

She's using her resources. It'd be the same as asking a friend or parent. She has to write six pages so this is barely a dent in that.

a) Utilitarianism. Greatest good for greatest no. of people. Position: lie. No one will know and no one will get hurt.
B) Ethical Egoist. Do what's best for you. Position: lie. You don't want to hurt anybody after all. You'd only be stressing yourself.
c) Categorical Imperative. Act only on universal morals. Position: is it right for every spouse to know about their partner's infidelity in every circumstance without exception? If you believe so, tell them. Most likely, you would answer no. For example, what if the spouse was known to be angry and violent? Would you reveal the truth then?
d) My position. Speak to my cheating best friend first. If she agrees to tell her spouse or end the affair, I won't get involved. In this way I'm giving her the opportunity to remedy her mistake, but in the event that she refuses, her spouse deserves to know the truth.

browse around wikipedia. some of the information there is not accurate, but it gives you a broader perspective.
