Just wondering how you guys handle the study when exams comes.
My exams are coming up real soon and i feel like i'm wasting alot of time by procastinating and getting side-tracked. Everytime is basically a distraction- tv, net, music, food...
If i study at home i seriously eat more than i study, if i go the library i waste my time by commuting.
Its embrassing... but i'm in 2nd year and still can't manage my time properly sad.gif
I seriously don't know how i made it through 1st yr blush.gif
Its so weird... but i can't concentrate after 8.30pm coz my eyes get reallyy tired, this only started to happen this year though.
Caffeine doesn't work for me anymore and i can't study in groups because we all just end up talking.
im freaking out coz i'm so scared i'm guna screw up my exams tears.gif
So you guys got any techniques that work??

I'm in my third year of my degree and I still procrastinate quite a bit. A lot of people say to get started early and keep up to date but I've found that I'm more suited to leaving things to late (maybe I'm just lazy). It all depends on the individual and what you want out of your degree. Motivation is the key.

Well i find paying attention in class the best because when you read over your notes you understand it so much more than going "huh what did i write??"

And its best to set goals for yourself. Like think:" today i want to get my essay/paper/reading assignment done." or "i need to review this section of notes and answer questions for the chapter." etc... And try to finish that before you start wandering off and getting distracted.

I think if you try not to cram in so much in one day but separate it out you won't feel as overwhelmed or as lazy.

Hi, been a member for a while but never bothered to post. I'm in my first year and find myself procrastinating alot too =\

I agree with the post above regarding setting goals. If you have a goal to achieve, it makes your path that much easier to see and follow. The biggest factor towards studying is self-accountability. You need to be aware that YOU make things happen. The grades you get is a result of the work you put in.

A few tips to help you out are:
-go to class(I skipped 80% of mine, now i'm paying for it)
-find a quiet spot you can work in, be it a library, coffee shop, etc etc...Don't worry about the commute, if you can study an effective hour or two, it beats 4 hours of unproductive study at home.
-Find a study buddy who you won't end up just talking to endlessly
-Don't do study marathons, you will only burn out. Try to do spurts of studying for an hour or two, then take a brief break, 20-30min or so.
-Get some physical activity in. During a break, go work out, or take a jog/run.
-Schedule your time throughout the day. Set aside specific times you want to study, and the times you wanna just go hang out. That way studying won't always be on your mind and you'll enjoy your breaks that much more. And STICK to the schedule!

yeh i think the best way was to actually paying attention in class in the first place so then when you do look at your notes you'll be able to undertsand them much quicker and easier without haveing to learn anything new.

I'm in my first year and i'm kinda procrastinating myself sweatingbullets.gif but it's not very severe since i paid attention so i just really need to gloss over some stuff and start on some past papers. However, i can't say the same for my minor business mod where i didn't pay attention in lectures because the lecturer sux and i wasn't bothered catching up and doing my own reading instead so now i have to learn everything and i'm spending more time on that than my other subjects where i'm comfortable with a good few days of revision will suffice.

make yourself a schedule, and try to follow it.
u might not know it but you might be spending tons of time online or watver, once you set limitations on yourself... you might make some progress.

i hate feeling like that too.
