I think most people agree that the book is much better than the movie. There's more background on the characters that add a lot of depth to the story. I totally loved the book and have read it twice already.

Recommendation: This movie is NOT for the faint of heart. It has a lot of violence but the story is absolutely brilliant. It's very different and shocking but it makes you think.

my friends were talking about this movie in class...it seems really cool and wickedly twisted in a sick way. lol but not for me....i dont really like the freakishly gory stuff.

but from what my friends say, id recommend it to the people who can handle it

I found it very sad at times just because there's alot of emotions going on..... there's love and trust and mistrust and betrayal. All in all it has some issues of life, relationships, and human nature.

In the book, the relationship between Takako Chigusa and that guy was the saddest ever. How he searched for her to try to protect her and in the end she shot him, did she kill him though? I can't remember if she did or if that crazy girl did. I didn't like how they made Shougo and Kiriyama complete strangers in the movie to the other classmates; I like it that they had a history in the book.

The movie is good though.

definitely one of the worst movies ive seen. cheesy gore scenes and bad chemistry between all the actors. even spawn was better than this.

^lol... Spawn is a bit of an odd comparison, but okay.

The film isn't "freakishly gory" at all.. sure, it's pretty violent if you're not used to that sort of stuff, but the gore factor is actually pretty minimal, despite a couple neck explodings, but that was really just a bunch of fake-looking blood.

I love the film, it's one of my favorites. The book is pretty awesome too, better than the movie.

^ i have yet to read the book... but if its as good and even BETTER than the movie then i'm gonna be all over it!! There's a manga out on it too but i never bothered to check that out.

oh and i LOVE Chiaki Kuriyama and Beat Takeshi in this movie!

^The manga's really good too, though I haven't finished yet, I'm up to volume 8. I'd say the movie and the novel are better than the manga, though the manga is still an entertaining read. It sort of exploits Mitsuko and her family life, well, waaaayyyyy more than the film or novel did. Not that that's a bad thing, just different from the film and novel, which is interesting to read about.

Beat Takeshi is f*cking classic in this movie, I love him.

didn't the ending totally give you a punch in the stomach? it musta been the funniest and most random thing i've ever seen in a movie LOL!! and if you are confused highlight the following lines.....spoiler alert of course...

i'm talking about when Beat Takeshi is shot and "dies" then his phones rings and he freakin gets up and answers it!!! most random thing ever!!

I really liked Kou's performance as Mitsuko. I liked her too, even though she was evil. But I read the novel, so it explains more about her and why she became that way.


I thought they should have put that one girl from the novel who was like, hrm, 5th place? The one who thought that she was some kind of space warrior from a different planet. And the "queer" guy too, they were funny characters

and yea i must say Kawada was hotter than Kiriyama... but Kiriyama was psycho cute lol

I think they made a special version of the movie with more of Mitsuko's story. I THINK... because when reading some credits... they added people on as "Young Mitusko (in special version)" or "Mitsuko's mother (in special version)" so yea i would need to check that out if there is a special edition battle royale!!


i really really need to read the book.. from what i'm hearing its amazing.. hehehe.... so now i need to get Coin Locker Babies and Battle Royale....

like i said, i really liked Chiaki Kuriyama in this movie. Chigusa was one of my favorite characters. I found her little story in the movie really really sad... especially how she kept talking to "kamisama"


BTW, the closing theme for this movie: Dragon Ash - Shizuka na Hibi no Kaidan wo is one of the best Japanese songs i've ever heard! i absolutely love it.....

I like Battle Royale 1 better than 2. It makes me mad that Takashi Tsukamoto died in there.
This is such a violent movie and the girl from the beginning is soooo freakin creepy looking..(blood all over her face and holding the doll..)
By the way, who's guy #11? It's sad that the girl he liked shot him and he finally confess to her. It's also sad that Takako Chigusa(Chiaki Kuriyama) liked him but he only liked her as a friend..
