I'm going to community college because it saves money and my grades are too crappy for me to get to any good colleges. However, my mom really hates this idea and thinks that CC is for idoits and lazy people. She expects me to go to the Ivy League and expensive schools with brilliant reputations because my cousins went to Stonybrook, Harvard and Yale. One of them is now a lawyer. My aunt went to NYU and my mom has a friend who's son went to Cornell.

For some reason she thinks I'm just as smart as them (she doesn't know my grades, I always hide or throw away the report card) and when I asked her "What college would you like me to go to she said: "Princeton, Yale..." and basically the places where only geniuses go.

I know that my SAT score will suck because my PSAT score was terrible and it's basically the same test just longer and one has an essay. I really hate my school and I have very few interests so therefore I can't stand the extracirricular activites and always leave after a few meetings because I'm bored or don't like the people. There is nothing I can really do to improve my chances of going anywhere else and I don't believe in wasting my time applying to places I can't go to so I think CC is the best choice.

Also, I'm not lazy if that's what people are thinking. I don't go to parties or talk to people after school, I do all my homework and study. It's just that this stuff doesn't come easy to me.

P.S. Does anybody know an inexpensive, decent place in Queens or Nassau county area that I can live in while going to college? The CC I like doesn't have dorms and I don't want to hear my mom giving me guilt trips about how "dissapointed" she is or complain about it to me all the time. I don't have to hear that if I don't want to. I have a job that pays really good $$$ so I think I could afford something decent if I saved enough money.

Thanks in advance for your help! smile.gif

Oops... Wrong thread. The mods can close this. I'm posting on the pre-college forum.
