In July 2000, when the local pop music scene was flooding with female talents, a male duo made their debut with a song entitled “Voice Mail.” As students of top universities in Korea, each of the members of UN(Untied N-Generation) had two different images. Kim Jeong-hoon displayed a soft image while Choi Jeong-won showed a strong look. Before appearing on stage as a member of the male duo, Choi Jeong-won performed as the vocalist of a 5-member dance group named “Bronze.” Kim Jeong-hoon, on the other hand, was picked by Cheonil Records through an open audition they held to search for new talents. In March 1999, the two men met each other and decided to form a duo under the name of “UN.” They released their debut album in July 2000, with the title song “Voice Mail.” The British pop style dance number was loved by many people for the sophisticated R&B style beats. However, the song that made UN gain great popularity was “For a Lifetime.” In the second album “Traveling You,” the male duo was successful with two songs, “Waves” and “Gift.” The former was a dance number with a bright and delightful melody and the latter was a ballad in which the calm tones of the two singers harmonized well. The male duo, however, pursued independent careers as singers as well as actors. While having a hiatus for the duo performance, Kim Jeong-hoon appeared in television dramas and movies to develop a steady career as an actor. Choi Jeong-won, too, played in television series and various shows developing his career as an entertainer.

I think we were all just--stunned at the time it happened, because no one had expected it. We figured it would happen some time--just a few more years from now. I think some of us felt there just wasn't anything else to say at that point. =/ With Junghoon's popularity these days, people who didn't know him from anything but Goong--are interested in UN now--especially since so many people said they didn't even know he was a gasoo.

i think they broke up because it was time to renew their contract with their agency... but they both decided to go into different ones.

my favorite songs by UN are: sunmool, pado, geuh nyuh eh geh... and im sure there were more but i dont remember them at the moment =P I also loved kim jung hoon's 3.5 solo songs ^^

UN debut in 2000. I like them since then. I think they have great voices & their voices go well with each other.
They're not really very popular though, not much fan sites on them too.

I'm glad junghoon got into acting...sO i'll see more of him on TV! keke...he's my fave. member.

Singer/Actor Choi Jung-won to Hold Fan Meeting in Japan

Singer/actor Choi Jung-won, a former member of the group UN, will hold a fan meeting
in Japan.

Choi is visiting Japan at the invitation of Japanese planning agency CrossOne. The
fan meeting was arranged for the Japanese fans he gathered when he worked as a
member of UN. The event will be held at the Shibuya Box in Tokyo on May 13 at
7:00 p.m., where he will shake hands with about 500 fans.

As the expression of his thanks for the invitation, Choi will present his fans with
costumes and accessories that he has worn on TV programs.

Choi's Japanese fans will also throw a surprise birthday party for him. Though his
birthday fell on May 1, his fans will celebrate his birthday belatedly.

An official from Choi's agency, Olive9, said, "He has decided to visit Japan after
some hesitation, because of his fans' unwavering concern and love for him, though
he is no longer working as a member of UN."

Choi is now poised to act in TV dramas, receiving some requests from TV networks
to star in various shows. He is currently preparing to record songs to release a
single album in Japan. As such, Choi will work as an actor in Korea and perform as a
singer in Japan.
