Okay well i know there is another person who made a thread about wanting to become a singer. I thought I would get encouragement in that thread but when one person said that "half-koreans" can't even make it.. it got me a little sad.

I mean I love singing, ive been singing since 6, and Ive even sang at korean church talent shows. (Won 2nd place btw 2 times and 1st place this year).

Im half white/korean and I speak fluent korean since I live with my mom.

I think its kind unfair for me since i don't wanna sing in the USA because ..its wierd you know
people judge you in america. and in korea they do the same thing. but since im more into my
korean side, I love singing in korean.

So what do you think I should do? Give up? Or keep going.

I say stick w/ your dreams and keep going. I think people will like that fact that you can speak korean fluently. Don't let others discourage you!

hey stick with your dreams. you never know. maybe you'll be like the daniel henney of kpop x]. except if you're a girl, then a female version too hehes. and also, i know korean people aren't very accepting of half koreans.... :T but then a lot of people such as hines ward, football player in NFL, who's half korean and half african american, are trying hard to help half koreans out and stuff (: so you might have a chance you know? never give up your hope. even if your dreams are crushed for a while, you still have hope so never give it up cause it's a precious thing and who knows...someone might admire your persistence/will/stubborness in trying to get in the korean entertainment business if you try a lot of times and never give up even though you don't get into one company...(:

Atleast you speak fluent korean thats a plus happy.gif

anyways, i'd say go for it cuz you might never know you can make a difference =). Thats also good that you sang very well in your korean church and if you can speak english very well then you can expand your talent far ahead. I think i'm not making sense XD

also, don't give up and whatever people say that you can't do it, well, screw them cuz they are just a bunch of jealous freaks happy.gif.

good luck!! ^^

Well, to be truthful, it's going to be damn hard. As much as you on't like to believe it, koreans can be some of the most snobby group of individuals out there. From experience from going there and some people at my school, I wonder if some koreans have any sense of humility. Some koreans look down upon korean americans more than half-koreans, but seeing as you are both (right?), you might have a little more trouble; but hey, everyone's into the whole half korean phase, so you might not be. Depends.

Now, enough of bashing my own ethnicity, hey, if Daniel Henney could make it (and look at his korean tongue.gif Great somewhat unintentional amusing moments there), you surely can. Not to be shallow, but are you hot? And if you're are or not, are you an exceptionally good singer? Here we go on the bashing again: I believe popularity depends heavily on looks. It's horrible; but think about it: so many people gush on how "cute" or hot" someone is, they sometimes forget about the actual talent. Go to an entertainment company that won't use looks as a way to get popularity; don't change who you are for other people. Unfortunately a lot of people have done that.

Respect. If you are cute or pretty, show them you're more than that. You're half-korean, you say, try to go to a company that wouldn't use that fact to get more popularity; a lot of people seem to do that nowadays and defeats the whole purpose of an artist's integrity. People are attracted to some singers with looks, but respect the singers who get by with their voices.

It will be hard and strenious, but if you work really hard and remain strong, I believe you could really have a chance. Think and choose wisely; even the smallest decisions could ruin your future.

Wow, I like how you explained everything so honestly. its wierd though how some koreans are into Britney spears and christina aguilera and other artists here in america, yet they judge the singers who are korean-american or half in korea. Thats just odd to me. I mean ISAK the girl from Sm got moved out of isak n jiyeon because the public didn't accept her. rahh gets me mad about the korean people there (the snobby ones).

Am I hot? haha I can't really answer that. But I will tell you that I'm tall, mom's skin, mom's eyes, and dad's nose and lips.
mom= korean :: dad= white. (Daniel henney really got the good looks for him and so did Dennis o'neil"

I like your speech on RESPECT has me feeling more confident. Thanks everyone for giving me good feedback ^^

Hey, why not? Yes, it will be hard but it's not impossible. Since it's your dream, why give up on it? If you end up not being a singer, it will give you life expriences that will give you an advantage some way or another!

There has been more and more appearance of mixed Koreans in the media! Like Daniel Henney, it really can work for you!

Good luck smile.gif

I don't wanna be the downer here. But be realistic, do you think you'll be able to make it? Even if you get signed, that is not a guarantee that you'll have a successful career. How about going to college first and then trying out?
Please don't forget me. { I'm going away. }
I'm taking a taxi to Kentucky where they don't even know all about me. I just need to feel s a f e.
I've got a thousand sweaters, and shoes, and paintings to hide the skeletons in my way.
But he said, "Slow down, slow down. Think it over, we've all got wretched closets, but silly girl pride kills more than Aids lately."
I said, "Come on, I thought it over. I don't wanna die here. I have no desire to get m♥rried."
Every night I pray for you, don't believe in heaven or that it could be a happy place.

Hm...well that's true that there's no guarantee that she'll have a successful career. but some entertainment companies are more accepting of half koreans than others. and i talked to lizzie and she hopes to go into YG. i think. and YG is a little bit more accepting of half koreans, especially if you have standing out talent. look at perry. he's not pure korean. and btw i know there was a thread about this buttttttt

CONGRATS LIZZIE! *still parties after 748307518 days after the news you told us on soompi*
