i've asked this before but i didn't get an answer,

what do i do with the viruses that ive quarantined?

i'm using avira (& malwarebytes) and when avira finds a virus it gives you options of what to do with it and i usually choose quarantine.
should i be choosing some other option instead?

Yesterday I detected a virus(es) on my computer named TROJ_BUREY.AK
http://threatinfo.trendmicro.com/vinfo/vir...e=TROJ_BUREY.AK
TROJ_DELF.NSZ
http://threatinfo.trendmicro.com/vinfo/vir...e=TROJ_DELF.NSZ

so then I ran Trend Micro Antivirus directly on the inflicted file. After it's done scanning a pop up says to click the clean or quarantine buttons to 'gert rid of it' but I am unable to click on either, just the the exit button..

how can I get rid of this?

last night it seemed have been gone since my laptop no longer shut off by itself after about 40minutes of use but it started to do it again dry.gif

McAfee has detected a trojan on my computer, but it doesn't do anything to quarantine it or delete it...so I tried using malwarebytes...and that couldn't even find the trojan. I'm worried...help?

My computer is still running, but I'm afraid it will abruptly crash or something. And I wish I could give you more information but I am a technology dimwit

don't know if i should post this here, but:

a lot of things have happened to my computer for the past, uh, let's say.. 3 months. i started getting the "blue screen of death" around may and june, and i had so many of those in the past month. but now i'm barely getting those, although i had one today. that was mostly only the problem i've had, so i tried to put up with it. but then my computer tells me that there are some files that are corrupted and tells me to run chkdsk to fix it. i do that, and the files get deleted, but they keep coming back all corrupted. :/ my friends suggest for me to get my computer reformatted, and i think i should, too... but i don't know where the CD is. i have all of my files in a flashdrive just in case, though.

right now i don't have an anti virus (bad, i know) and i haven't been scanning for a year because of that. i do have AVG and ad-aware but i think that doesn't cover much if i don't have an antivirus. i've noticed that my browser has been weird lately, sometimes i get redirected to other sites when i click on a legit link. so i'm thinking that i might have a virus, or spyware, or something bad.

i bought an anti-virus recently, and it only needs to be downloaded. first i have to download a .NET framework but somehow i can't. i've asked my friend to download the .NET framework to check, and she was able to download it. so it's my computer that has the problem. i've downloaded spybot search and destroy and malware bytes; the problem is that they don't open when i try to launch them. also, i can't go straight to malware bytes's, spybot's and eset's websites. eset's website is blank for me, and malware bytes's website simply says that firefox can't find the server to it. i've asked my friends to check the websites for me and they said that all three are working.

since ad-aware is working for me, i scanned today on safemode (which somehow took three and a half hours), and they found something that said winfixer and trojan alureon. doesn't that mean i have a virus? i used to have winfixer waaay back then, and i remember it was a horrible virus that never went away. well, at least i think it is. o_o
also, ad-aware found the same things again when i restarted the computer even when the recommended action was done. i've researched about the trojan, and to sum it all up, it seems very serious. -__-
i had hoped that when i bought the anti-virus, i would download it and it could save my computer, but apparently my computer has other plans.

any help on this?

- win32/trojan alureon + win32/winfixer removal
- blue screens of death
- what could be the reason behind the fact that i can't go to malwarebytes, eset, or spybot's websites?
- the fact that malwarebytes and spybot won't open when i try to launch them, even on safemode.
- also, some websites turn blank, even though it's done loading
- corrupted files keep popping up

is this problem serious enough for me to reformat my computer?

i hope someone can help. (:

^Oh I've had that one before. Ad-aware didn't fix it for me, in fact I think it sucks now and don't use it anymore. Instead I used SUPERantispyware. Seems to have gotten rid of it.

I'm no computer expert or anything, but maybe some of you guys should try the SUPERantispyware scanner? It's gotten rid of most of my major problems. Including the antivirus 2009 my boyfriend had on his laptop that some of you guys seem to be having.. which btw that thing was sooo annoying!! My bf actually thought it was a legit program trying to help him too. laugh.gif

Just got this bogus virus. Advanced Spyware remover. I got it to stop popping up like a million times every 30 seconds. Its disabled task manager, IE, and my wallpaper has that whole "YOUR SYSTEM IS INFECTED!" insanity. I've looked for solutions on how to do it manually... and honestly, I'm on the brink of insanity.
McAfee does not help. -___-

Anyone know what to do?

I'm a little surprised combofix (google it) isn't on here. combofix is extremely simple but very powerful!

i dont know if this is the right section but i have these notices saying i have all these viruses and have downloaded a program called Nortel and Norton Protection Center, however they are asking me to pay as they were trials.

is this spyware to get rid of viruses?
also, are there programs that i can use to protect my computer without paying?

Nortel is spyware that tricks you into downloading it saying it is a protection software but it is not. Click here to view a site that will help you remove Nortel.

Trendmicro Housecall is a free online scanner to help remove spyware, viruses, it will help if you have a reasonably fast and stable internet connection. See if you can access this site, you may not be able to because of Nortel but try smile.gif

You should backup your important documents and pictures.

So powerful that it has ruined many computers too... I wouldn't put it on the list for any kind of people.
Combofix would be a last resort for a problem. And also gotta read the hijackthis log (helpful tool) to see if you REALLY need combofix as well. And also to make sure if you got no program that it would interfere with or mess with. People with cracked windows (even those who never even knew their windows are cracked) would have hard time after having the combofix kill the crack that allowed windows to get fooled. That's just the worst case... Other cases are that some of their programs have malfunctions. The windows will remain ok though. Just that the errors you can possibly get after combofix scan would be from some programs. The old school combofix used to eliminate some important "infected" (modified) registry entries without fixing it. Now up to date, nothing to worry about windows problems.

Through experience, you can tell right away if someone immediately needs combofix or not.

Can someone PLEASE help me?
I have this spyware/adware type thing that every time I google and I click on the results, it redirects me to another page that I did not intend to go to. It takes me about two tries until I can access the page I want to without being redirected. All the sites it directs me to is random.. but I notice there's usually this green globe icon next to the website link that loads.

I've scanned with spybot and superantispyware, but it doesn't work. I'm really worried it's going to get into my personal accounts like bank, credit cards, etc? Any advice? Thanks in advance.

How do you get rid of email viruses?!? I went to check my email today and received a bunch of "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)" messages.

EDIT: I downloaded and ran SuperAntiSpyware and it found and got rid of a bunch of stuff, but does this need to be run in Safe Mode? or is it okay to log into things now?
