how hard is AP chemistry? im taking it next year as a sophmore (the only AP class u can take as a sophmore. our school is like that).

i got a question though: lets say u put a sport like tennis or track as a extracriccular during AP chem. our school goes by semester-long classes, so ap chem lasts from jan-june. is it possible to balance it, and if so, how (im not doing it, my friends are. i cant handle doing something like that)?

of course, our school is really bad. only one ap chem teacher and just imagine how many ppl want to sign up =/ (we got a lot of dumb people but a lot of smart ppl too)

For sports, it'd be hard to balance with AP Chem. I don't know if your teacher has labs continuing after school because labs are pretty important in AP Chem. And you shouldn't take AP Chem along with sports if you'll be missing the class because of a sports game. Missing class hurts you pretty bad.

personally i loved chem. there are many factors when ur considering the class
if ur teacher sucks, ur basically screwed unless u learn REALLY well by urself.
also, im taking 3 ap's this year and like 2 honors plus 1 regular class and im doing badminton. im doing fine.
so it really depends on ur time management
and teacher

Clubs and volunteer work should be fine since those activities are mostly on the weekends.

You can manage some of that with AP chem. Just keep in mind for admissions, grades are more important than extracurriculars. I would recommend one sport or regular club at most.

^ Ya know... with how this year's admission thing went overall for UCs, I'd say sports and extra curricular activities were more important than getting the best grades. I know a couple of people that only got into UCB because they had 4 years of sports.

AP Chem is the class from hell. Only take it if you have a competent and somewhat strict teacher.

I didn't like the class, but i think it's because it was hard. But the thing is 1/3 of our class had 5's so I guess it paid off.

I'm in AP chem now as a sophomore, and my teacher is nuts. I think you'd be alright if you can comprehend things easily and your teacher actually knows how to lecture, because basically my whole year consisted of self-teaching and that class is definitely not something you can learn completely on your own. And if you're planning to take the AP test at the end of the year, I think one semester of the class isn't long enough to cover all the material.
