your individual scores arent gonna be on ur transcript lol

and if ur schools look smarter you look smarter lol

^omg, i almost got a heart attack when i saw "it's going to be on your transcripts" hahaha. hoo...

lol i wasn't going to try on the test and fill in random patterns, but then i realized that i'd be helping my school if i got a good score, so i think i'll actually try. xP

and i don't think you can really study for these things. it's pretty much... cumulative knowledge. you can try those mcgraw hill/kaplan books or whatever.. if they even make it for high schoolers. i knew they covered up to 8th grade, though.

once you experience AP tests..
Star Testing is something you look forward to. I usually sleep during STar Testing.

"But this, like all journeys should be, was also a journey of the self, and I ultimately learned some intangible qualities of the human soul. A musical thread connects us, consistently from civilization to civilization. And that thread runs through you just as it does me. What patterns, and colors it will weave as the course of history plays out is only limited by our imagination and ability to dream." - Wang Leehom

Yeah, my school confirmed that STAR testing will be on transcripts because of the fact that PEOPLE *winksomeofyouwink* dont try, and because of that, the school loses money and gets a worst rating.

So they are doing this to get everyone to try harder...

But this is just my district, im not sure about others, i would ask the counsellor about this

oh crud this is not good.

our school is pretty bad. we're pretty close to being controlled by the state, which means no extra-cricculars and all academics =(

well im pretty sure that ours doesnt count on our transcripts...we had assemblies showing how *bad* we did last year and that it would only help the school. i definitly did not do well and focus on every single question (like the SAT) but at least i didnt fill in random stuff.....hopefully it doesnt count =/

well i think putting it on trasncripts would hurt the school just as much because then we can just ask parents to excuse us from taking it just so we wont have it on the transcripts

What you get on this exam does not do anything to you. Colleges do not see the scores and most people downright don't care. Most of the time the kids just bubble randomly and sleep. I'm not advising that is what you should do, but I'm rather just saying what people actually do.

However, it is important to note that what you get affects the school overall. A school with a higher ranked API usually gets more funding and more attention... etc. That is why teachers make a big fuss about eating a healthy breakfast and doing the best on the test. (They want more funding!)

i heard that individual scores will be on the transcripts starting this year...

i think star testing isn't all that bad. i personally think it's better than being in class... just fill out the test and then sleep for the rest of the ridiculously large and unnecessary amount of time given to you. plus it's nice when you're a senior because then you don't have to take it and you can rub that at all the underclassmen to piss them off xD

I opened up one of my official transcripts (I had a spare copy). It had a few of the STAR-type test scores on it...just English and Math I think.

As someone said, this does affect your school overall (as in, if your entire school gets low test scores, your school will not be considered particularly reputable, which is what DOES count), so do avoid bubbling in happy faces and just going to sleep...just finish the darn test. You probably don't need to study. The standards aren't that high.

YESSS I get to come to school at 10/11 this year during STAR testing. smile.gif.

From what I heard, STAR scores are placed on your transcript only if you are applying to a state college/university. So in California, if you wanted to go to a CSU school, you had to write up an essay and fill in a survey along with your STAR.
