If you took the AP exam for that class and you passed, would you still receive the college credit even if you drop the course after you take the AP exam?

The AP exam has no effect on whether or not you pass the class. The AP exam is just a way for colleges to grasp an idea of how well you would do there.

The exam is in May. That's pretty much in the middle of your fourth marking period (if you go through the year in quarters). Dropping the class THAT late will probably be a really bad idea. Besides, at a lot of schools, after the exam, there's basically nothing to do anymore. Many times, teachers will just hand out some classworks and turn on movies and so on. The reason why is because teachers work hard to prepare you for the AP exam- meaning they will try to teach you everything before the big day. So after the test, they'll just mellow out because almost everything's been taught.

So why drop the class when you've got it all done with????

But every school differs, so ya... But it would be a pretty bad idea to drop the class after the exam.

Oh, and you don't even know if you passed the exam until JULY. So your question pretty much doesn't make any sense anymore. lol! You' be making assumptions based on pretty much NOTHING! biggrin.gif

Many schools (I know my school does this) only give you half of the credit after each SEMESTER (after two quarters). This means that if you drop the class before the end of the second semester, then you'll only have half of a credit, which isn't good.

You need a full credit to show that you completed the class. sad.gif

So to make everything I just said, short: Don't get drop out of the AP class because that's just dumb.

If you really have that much of a problem with the class, talk it over with your guidance counselor or administrator.

^ word. you're like...through. what, a month left of the class? less hassle and risks in just sitting tight.

plus, since your AP exam is over, the teacher is prollie going to be a lot more chill about things.
