Wasn't roscoe just a dj/producer for them? I'm not sure myself, but just from what I know I wouldn't really consider him a member of 'Drunken Tiger' as an actual MC.

Roscoe Umali (Hip-Hop // Rap) Filipino-American

^thats right folks, ur not seeing things, its Roscoe IN BED with Jeri Lee

Until recently, Roscoe Umali was mainly known as one of the members of the korean rap group "Drunken Tiger" but now he is finally breaking out on his own.

Jin now. Actually wasn't really into him when he was really popular, but he's putting more thought into his productions. He's also a really nice guy, easy to talk to, no ego. smile.gif

I see that Far East Movement and Ken Oak Band have been brought up a couple of times on this topic. Both groups are very good friends of mine and they all are very talented people. When Ken and Ed of Ken Oak Band come to play a show for me in Seattle, they always play with my brothers band that I manage New Heights (www.myspace.com/newheightsmusic). Also a all asian american band. So show some love for New Heights and keep supporting Kev nish and all of Far East Movement and Ken, Ed and cant for get about Pete (manager) of Ken Oak Band.

Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life.

I been bumpin's Roscoe since the DT days, and now his latest mixtape "I <3 My DJs" rarely leaves my car's CD player. I can rock that continuously for days, and it always keeps me amped up.

Also, Kristine Sa's latest album is amazing, and her best work yet. I love her music, and have been fortunate to meet her twice now. smile.gif

And on another not, Jin's 4th album "I Promise" is his hottest project yet. Definately a tight CD from start to finish.

i agree with the OP. Asians need support from other asians and if we're not giving them much of a chance then we can't expect a change in the music industry. Asians are especially scrutinized in the entertainment industry so it's critical we show some love for them. This way they know we're behind them and supporting them 100% along the way.

So I didn't see a VERY talented artist posted in this thread. I'll put his info up now smile.gif . Some of his songs were aired on radio stations in the Bay area happy.gif . I encourage everyone to check him out. He's definitely one of the best Asian American R&B singers.

Kuay Saelee

you listened to them all, huh? Kind of hard to believe. If you listened to Roscoe Umali, you'd know different, as he is currently the hot stock in Hip Hop world. With many high profiled artists featured on his latest mixtape (Talib Kweli, Raekwon, E-40, Murphy Lee, DJ Muggs, Smif N Wesson, etc.), he is finally getting the chance to showcase the talent many have known about since is Drunken Tiger days.

Sorry, but it sounds to me like you already had your mind set that these people weren't going to be good, as you gave no explanation as to why they are "lame"

They're not good because they didn't - or won't make it. Either they don't have the look or they don't have the vocals or rapping skills.

Or, they're not respected enough here to make it. Music Industry's don't think they draw a big enough crowd. And then, they all go to Asia, where they DO make it big, because there, their ethnicity isn't a big deal, and they DO have the looks, AND the vocals.

We need to show the music industry that we ARE a market for Asian American artists.
