If you can make a new thread, you can install an intake. Thats how easy it is.

^havent seen you post in a very long time!
I suggest the AEM one because it has the carb decal on it. The guy I went to smog my car to was telling me the intakes are not legal, but I showed them the decal and he was cool about it. My vote is on the $90 AEM if you don't want to worry the smog guy hassling you, and it saves you the hassle from swapping intakes. I mean who the hell wants to do that??? Installing is easy, and the AEM ones come with instructions. To be honest it isn't worth the money if you are expecting any performance gains.

hassle? you mean like 10 - 15 minutes of your time? I say 10 minutes is worth the 70 dollar savings.

Stop goofing around and do it right. Do your pre-dyno, get the intake, headers, and full exhaust system, then re-dyno, re-map the ecu, dyno again, final tweaks on the fuel map, and then your final dyno.

Why do people put on huge wings and bodykits when the engine is stock? (which just adds weight)
Why do people paint their brake calipers red? (actually, it's becausethey can't afford real Brembos or Tokicos)
Sorry for the wiseass answer, but are you getting the hint now? (someone just unlocked the answer to one of my pet peeves)
To answer your question about what SRI's do, they replace the stock filter which allows lesser restricted airflow. And with the shorter pipe, the engine response is supposed to be quicker. Though good thermal shielding will be needed, otherwise the engine will be sucking up hot air as the engine bay gets hot.

don't bother with the SRI or even with a cone.
buy a K&N drop-in filter for your stock airbox and call it a day.
reasons:
-you will know what it means to have "hassle free smog inspection"
-you can avoid the heatsoak that will be coming with the SRI if you don't have it properly set up
-a 5 year old could install it if you showed them how, it takes less than a minute

yes, unless it has a CARB sticker. If you want to stay legal.. stick with Injen or AEM. i think both brands offer a inatkes that are carb exempt
so if its INJEN or AEM, its okay then?
