my honda civic.

is installing it easy and simple that anyone can do it?
could u go to a shop or somewhere where they can install it for you?

also, does it make that much a difference in the HP? if so how much?

last thing is.
which is the best kind?
Injen, AEM, etc.

thanks!

Just buy a knock off. its such a small part I can't justify paying 200 for a freggin aem logo. Regardless you're not getting more than 3 -5hp max.

yeah just get a cheapie one for about $25 or so. And keep your old box and filter so when you go smog you can slap everything back to stock. Paying $200 for a $25 filter and $175 CARB-certified sticker just isn't worth it. It is dead simple to install. As for the power... you're not gonna smoke any Mustangs, that's for sure. But it's the essential first step to better performance, very easy and very cheap. Plus your car will sound louder when you floor it.

just get any short ram intake.. they are all the same. It will make your car loud and cause power loss from heat soak (if any). You drive a civic so you wont feel any noticeable power increases.

If you can make a new thread, you can install an intake. Thats how easy it is.

also the g can already run mid 13s stock and the hks intakes adds an estimated 10 extra hp and the exhausts add like 8 so yeah it should shove off about 1.5 to 2 sec off my times

^havent seen you post in a very long time!

I suggest the AEM one because it has the carb decal on it. The guy I went to smog my car to was telling me the intakes are not legal, but I showed them the decal and he was cool about it. My vote is on the $90 AEM if you don't want to worry the smog guy hassling you, and it saves you the hassle from swapping intakes. I mean who the hell wants to do that??? Installing is easy, and the AEM ones come with instructions. To be honest it isn't worth the money if you are expecting any performance gains.

hassle? you mean like 10 - 15 minutes of your time? I say 10 minutes is worth the 70 dollar savings.

You won't even feel the power gain... which would be 3 horsepower at best, 1.5 horses realistically.

Stop goofing around and do it right. Do your pre-dyno, get the intake, headers, and full exhaust system, then re-dyno, re-map the ecu, dyno again, final tweaks on the fuel map, and then your final dyno.

Why do people put on 6-inch exhaust cans? (which can actually be detrimental for performance)

Why do people put on huge wings and bodykits when the engine is stock? (which just adds weight)

Why do people paint their brake calipers red? (actually, it's becausethey can't afford real Brembos or Tokicos)

Sorry for the wiseass answer, but are you getting the hint now? (someone just unlocked the answer to one of my pet peeves)

To answer your question about what SRI's do, they replace the stock filter which allows lesser restricted airflow. And with the shorter pipe, the engine response is supposed to be quicker. Though good thermal shielding will be needed, otherwise the engine will be sucking up hot air as the engine bay gets hot.

huh? People actually do that? blink.gif Anyways, I still say go for it and go the cheapie route. Do it for the sound it makes when you step on it. That's worth 25 bux.

Even if the painting was done very poorly using house paint?

my 2 cents.....
don't bother with the SRI or even with a cone.
buy a K&N drop-in filter for your stock airbox and call it a day.

reasons:
-you will know what it means to have "hassle free smog inspection"
-you can avoid the heatsoak that will be coming with the SRI if you don't have it properly set up
-a 5 year old could install it if you showed them how, it takes less than a minute

is the smong inspection thingie only
in california? o_o; cus ive never heard
of it here.

ive heard of emissions tests, if thats the
same thing. so say i had a SRI on the car
and i took it to the emission test place,
would i fail the thing?

yes, unless it has a CARB sticker. If you want to stay legal.. stick with Injen or AEM. i think both brands offer a inatkes that are carb exempt
